johnloach Quite simply why make this movie? No redeeming features at all.The film depicts sickeningly graphic scenes of rape and despicable violence to a completely innocent young woman. This is followed by her 'revenge'.How is this entertainment? Given that this is a sequel and thus a rehash of the same loathsome storyline makes the reasoning behind making it even more difficult to understand.I suspect those who enjoy this sort of movie have some serious issues which allow them to find gratification from such trash! Shame on the cast for taking part!!!
abas426 As a large fan of the 2010 remake of ISOYG, I was glad to hear of a sequel which I watched promptly not long after the original remake. Essentially, the film is very similar to the first and one would not be incorrect to say that ISOYG2 is the same movie as the 2010 remake, in a different location with different characters. The plot is again similar to that of the first film; A woman is abused horrendously by insane tormentors, repeatedly raped and then recovers against all odds to exact her revenge. It would be useful for those thinking of watching ISOYG2 to note that the scenes of sexual violence are much higher in impact than those of the 2010 film and are fairly confronting. This disturbing feel can be attributed to the acting of Jemma Dallendar which I found to be highly realistic and deserving of an Oscar (as many are saying). At this point in the film, the desired effect was being achieved nicely. Again, the viewer begins to feel hatred for the victim's abusers, hence making the later revenge scenes more satisfying. So far so good at this point in time. Yet this sequel features a lacking of the suspense that worked so well in the 2010 film. This can be justified as in this sequel, we do witness the recovery of the victim (Katie). The revenge scenes are also fairly less satisfying than those portrayed in the original remake as they are more basic (this was most likely done in an attempt to make Katie's revenge more 'believable'). It was due to this that I was often left wishing that Katie had done more to torture and deliver justice to her attackers. So whilst the first half is mental torture to watch and does it's job to disturb (whilst many recent horrors don't), the movie then fails to deliver what we all anticipated in the second halfYet still a very good rape-revenge horror film, although definitely inferior to the 2010 remake. Although do note that I have found viewing ISOYG2 to be enjoyable (if that's the right word) and this has subsequently prompted me to watch the next installment in the franchise. An 8/10 for being one of the few horrors to disturb me, yet I must say again, the disappointments of the films second half mean that it is inferior to its predecessor.
BBBB DDDD The brutality to a lady in this movie is very gruesome, but, has some reality to some real life atrocities that you find on documentaries. The whole story had me very engaged and almost in total shock and tears until we got to the revenge part. I was really expecting something very brilliant on her part, something along the lines of Heath Ledger's joker, considering that she was very intelligent. It was more of a "return evil for evil; eye for an eye, hand for a hand" type of justice: anything they did to her, she did twice as bad to them.I just don't understand how those guys can be so stupid!!! If you find some girl that you just buried six feet under come back with the angriest demonic look, what do most people do??? All five of her victims just retardedly followed a girl they murdered down into a sewer just to run into the most obvious revenge trap; very unrealistic! For the chick: how do you walk into your house, find a break in, hear somebody downstairs and just go do down there??? No scream, no police even though you're in cahoots with them...Small mistakes in the murders. The guy with the infection had boyels of the black plague but no fever??? How did she pick up guys twice her size and chain them standing up, a fat guy on top of a bed, drag a lady to the other side of the sewer.I'm going on a rant, but, this movie could've been so much better.
tubes515085 Just know this -- I enjoyed the first remake . Not a ten star movie - more like 7.5 . -- This movie is about a 3 out of 10 . Reasons are clear . -- Not a very good actress . Her sinister stares are so fake its not even funny . The first girl ( I forget her name ) in the first film was convincing as an angry - revenge seeking girl . -- This one was acting more like a possessed girl who should of been in one of those B horror films . Not good at all . ----- And the worst part ? I thought I had rented this off of ON DEMAND . My mistake -- I apparently bought this terrible film for $9.99 - Now its in my Life time saves . I am going to call Verizon and beg them to remove it from my list of purchases . I will pay them another $9.99 just to do that .
