Reviews

jordanandterri Love the details in this series and how historically accurate it is along with an injection of a fictional love story. The chemistry between Jamie and Claire is by far one of the best on screen. It's so easy to fall in love with the story line as well as the characters. Each season is unique which keeps you wanting more. Highly recommend this series for any historical loving romantics.
hoyden-59572 Ewwww! This is not a Romance. If you're a feminist, definitely stay away from this. I was lured by the rave reviews and frankly the costuming and settings as well as the actors are superb, but this is disturbing on so many levels. It was a very pedestrian start and when I finally did get in the swing of the story, I found it disturbing that at every turn, it seems women are treated as nothing but potential rape victims. Historical authenticity is one thing but this was very one sided. Be scared and be grateful is the underlying tone of the thing. The brutalistic approach is not appealing in the least. I certainly didn't sing up for a Midnight Express version of a romance, but I stomached it to a point and soldiered on until suddenly, it became porn. I felt truly sorry for the actors, then. Nothing of that kind was needed to forward the plot. The director must hate women and/or be going through a nasty divorce. This is just offensive. If you truly like romance, this isn't it. I'll try the book. It has to be better than this.
Eureka Samaravera I have never read the books nor have I ever heard of this series until I accidentally stumbled upon it on some random post on Facebook. And I'm bloody glad I did because the series by far: Stunning. Emotionally Beautiful. Unbearably Sexy. And just so, so good to watch! And the Scottish culture back in those days, man, it's all very interesting and despite me knowing very little of it, I can still greatly enjoy it!And the actors, especially Jamie and Claire, damn their chemistry is off the charts and I can't help but think that there IS something actually going on there. But seriously though, top-notch acting and performance. The whole atmosphere even, just awe-struck "woah!"I'm currently at Season 2: Episode 9 now and boy, it just keeps getting better. (I'm so hooked right now). So yes, highly recommended to watch!!
clare-stephenson I started watching this 1 week ago and already I'm halfway through season 3! You wouldn't think I work full time and have 2 children to look after! But I just can't get enough....completely in love with the whole concept (as well as Jamie) It is hard not to get swept away in the romance of it all and dread reaching the end of this season because I doubt there is a replacement show whilst I wait for season 4. Can't say anymore other than I love it :)
