manukyansusanna How do you make a movie about the Genocide without showing blood? How do you present a crime of the century without boring the audience with a pile of historical facts? How do you 100 years later make a movie with which the spectator can identify with? It has been done. It has been done in this movie called 1915. A profound movie for those who appreciate fine art. This movie is for those who think of a film not only as a form of entertainment but as art in motion. I truly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.I watched it with my family members. The movie sparked a long discussion in our family. Most of us thought it was an awesome movie.
nune-hayrapetyan I thought the movie was very interesting and out of standards. I think the directors had done an excellent job in making a 100 year story be so relevant to our lives today. People who are thinkers would enjoy this movie very much. However, you do need to watch the movie carefully because every word spoken is important and if you are not paying attention you can miss a great symbolism. The actors are very good, I especially enjoyed Simon Apkarian. I also liked where the movie was filmed. The LA theater is so old and beautiful. It seemed that it has stayed opened all these years just for this movie. My advice: Watch this movie carefully and you will love it.
Jill Baker I would have given this movie an 8 or 9 out of 10, except that this movie is SO underrated that I have to give it a 10. What's not to like? Simon Abkarian proves once and for all that he is a powerful, multi-faceted leading man. Meanwhile, Angela Sarafyan is stunning and hypnotic. Why aren't these actors getting props? Sam Page plays his role exactly as he needs to, while Nikolai Kinski reaches for the moon and lands among the stars for sure. One more thing: the theater is GORGEOUS. And Leigh Underwood's photography is just as beautiful and elegant as the theatre. A wonderful movie, if you like this kind of movie. If you don't, then why are you watching it anyway?
uptarterxed Confusing to some, but for those who avoid simple solutions and want to see the full complexity of history in action -- one of the best indie releases of the year. Highly recommend if you want a smart thriller and not just entertainment! Simon Abkarian has a masterful performance. Angela Sarafyan is powerful. There is some confusion and maybe an unnecessary plot line that I didn't quite connect to. But I'd rather not bring it up here. Overall a very strong movie, with a point off due to personal taste. It is sad that we have such a scarcity of Armenian Genocide movies. And one can only hope that more movies like this will be filmed, even as we wait for the great Armenian Genocide Epic Story.
