anthony-yeoman My ten year old son was in the mood to watch some old BTAS episodes. I'm always down for that so let's fire up Amazon Prime. While doing our search we found this movie. Cool, let's check it out. It should be good. WRONG. I actually came to IMDB to write a scathing review of whoever wrote this drivel and lo and behold Bruce Timm wrote it. WHAT. Say it isn't so. I can only hope he was high as a kite when he wrote this. Half of it seemed to be fetish fan fiction and the rest was just absurd. I get it. BTAS fans are older now, but gratuitous profanity and cheesecake shots aren't the way to show the writing is now edgy and adult. I was hoping the ending would reveal that Harley was still in Arkham and this whole movie was just a crazy, drug induced dream, but that was not the case. Still, Bruce Timm has written so many brilliant Batman stories, he's entitled to one stinker.
jodyfranz There are spoilers ahead but I feel ok about that since there are SO many better DC Batman titles to watch out there than this garbage. It started off not bad, I liked the cutesy opening credits, from which I was thinking ok this is probably going to be a bit different so keep an open mind. The story was meh - Harley sleeping with Nightwing felt a little weird but I thought ok whatever remember this will be different so just go with it.The fart scene was totally not in line with typical Batman movies/shows and I found the line "Smells like discipline" was pretty funny (will be using that in real life).Everything was tolerable until the very end where we encounter some of the weakest writing I have ever witness. I felt like I was watching something my 12 year old nephew would write. 'They were fighting and fighting and fighting... then they fought some more... then swamp thing shows up and then the bad guy wins but then batman lights him on fire and he runs away...THE END'I can't even remember the dozen's of other animated DC movies I have seen ALL of them are more worthy of your time than this thing. Total garbage, only reason I don't give it a 1 is because I have seen movies like Guilty by Association and this as bad as it is, is not as bad as that movie.
beastangel21 I know we are used to see Batman animations and movies to see in a dark way past a few years. This is just a different approach. It does not give you an outstanding fiction but it makes you smile. Just give it a try and try to see it separated from all other Batman/DC universe fiction. You won't regret.
Platypuschow With the new mainstream popularity of Harley Quinn it was inevitable they were going to cash in, with the forthcoming movie coming out were teased a future Quinn/Ivy team up with this animated DC venture.Immediately I was struck with the inconsistency of the tone, it looks and sounds like the old Batman animated series but blood, swearing and over sexualisation of Quinn was present. But then the opening credits was like a Pink Panther movie, half the sequences were camp comedy and the whole thing felt like the original series on acid.Thats not saying it wasn't watchable, but its like that Family Guy/Simpsons crossover. It was like a Simpsons episode, with blood violence and rape jokes. Something about it just felt wrong.Batman and Harley Quinn is a Saturday Morning cartoon with content thrown into keep adults entertained and they've been doing that a lot lately. What with Batman sleeping with Batgirl in the huge letdown that was Killing Joke (2016), Deadshot hooking up with Killer Frost in Assault On Arkham (2014) and here Nightwing bedding Harley Quinn.Due to the mixed tone I really didn't enjoy this as much as I wanted to. It was like mixing the Adam West series with the Nolan Franchise and blending it with the animated TV show. The Good: Great voice work Nice to see old school Harley Quinn againThe Bad: Inconsistent tone Most jokes fall flat Ridiculous opening credits Things I Learnt From This Movie: The DC dark and brooding days are long since gone Poison Ivy looks oddly like Kim Possible I can't hear Kevin Michael Richardson's voice without thinking of American Dads Principal Lewis
