adonis98-743-186503 Axel Foley returns to Beverly Hills to help Taggart and Rosewood investigate Chief Bogomil's near-fatal shooting and the series of "alphabet crimes" associated with it. Beverly Hills Cop II (1987) is one of those Sequels that gets all that hate because it just isn't as good as the Original and honestly as much as the Original might be a little bit better this one is just as good as the first film it's funny, action packed and with some great one liners plus i really liked the fact that Brigitte Nielsen played the villain instead of the hero like she did in Red Sonja (1985) and Cobra (1986) plus Rocky IV (1985) doesn't count and go figure she's actually pretty damn good and ruthless, Jürgen Prochnow also does a pretty damn good job. Rosewood, Taggart and Bogomil also return for the Sequel and join Eddie Murphy once again for a 100 minutes of a pure action packed fun full of great comedy such as 'Yo Baby Yo' and action that really blows movies of Today clean and dry plus i loved the car chase sequence and i just can't stop playing that damn song in my head it's just that damn good. Beverly Hills Cop 2 is worthy of the name of it's successor and it's just as good as the first Beverly Hills Cop was and the gags remain pretty damn great plus you get cameos from Chris Rock and Hugh M. Hefner and there are 2 gigantic posters of Sylvester Stallone from Rambo: First Blood Part II and Cobra in Billy's House. The first 2 Beverly Hills Cop Movies are just way too 80's and i LOVE THEM!!!
Tweekums When Detroit cop Axel Foley learns that his friend Captain Andrew Bogomil of the Beverly Hills Police Department has been shot while investigating the so-called 'Alphabet Thieves' he tells his own boss that he is going deep, deep undercover on a local case before flying out to Los Angeles to help find those responsible. Once there he discovers that Rosewood and Taggart have been relegated to traffic duty by the officious new Chief of Police… inevitably this doesn't stop them investigating the thieves. It isn't too long before he figures out that Maxwell Dent is behind the crimes but it won't be easy to prove as he doesn't get personally involved; instead he leaves the dirty work to his assistant; the six foot blonde Karla Fry.After the success of the original 'Beverly Hills Cop' it was inevitable that there would be a sequel. I don't think this is quite as good as the first but it is still pretty good and has plenty of laughs. Eddie Murphy once again impresses as Axel Foley and Judge Reinhold and John Ashton make a welcome return as Rosewood and Taggart… there has been some amusing character development for Rosewood since we last saw him; he seems to have an unhealthy interest in weaponry which disturbs his partner. The criminals aren't quite as interesting as the original film; it is hard to believe that witnesses wouldn't have been able to help identify Brigitte Nielsen's Karla Fry. Some of the gags feel like rehashes of ones from the original film but that doesn't mean they don't work. Once again we have a gratuitous visit to a strip club and if that wasn't enough they have to gate-crash the Playboy Mansion where lots of bikini clad beauties are dancing around… as well as a cameo from Hugh Hefner himself. Given that Tony Scott took over the direction it isn't surprising that there is more action and that action is pretty impressive. Overall a decent enough sequel that fans of the original are likely to enjoy.
scuderia_filipinetti This movie gets a lot of bad press and I have no idea why. For me, the BHC concept was in good hands with Tony Scott. From the very first shot, with the thick orange camera filter looking over the oilfields, accompanied by the classic sounds of Harold Faltermeyer, to the final scenes at the same fields, it is a thoroughly entertaining movie as Axel, Billy and Taggart team up to investigate the Aplhabet-murders. If you want, there is much to be said about the execution of the movie, or about the lack of a storyline, but surely, with a cast like Jurgen Prochnow ("Adriano was not perfect"), Brigitte Nielsen depicting the quintessential broadshoulderd eighties woman and the not-a-care-in-the-world humor of Eddy Murphy, who really needs a truly compelling story? There are lots of other movies way better equipped to fulfill that particular need. BHCII isn't one of them, nor does it pretend to be. Judge the movie for what it is, a classic popcorn action comedy, and then you'll see it is actually a fantastic ride.
