Horst in Translation ([email protected]) Final Fantasy is one of the most successful video game franchises of all time, so no surprise there is also some motion picture action. This 25 minute short film takes place between different games of the series. i have to say I never played these, yet I was curious about this anime here. The animation is pretty nice I believe and it's not outdated at all, even if this is 10 years old already. Yet, I have to say not knowing who the characters are hurts the viewing experience as there is no introduction to them. A young woman is in search of her father. Everybody is on the lookout for somebody named Sephiroth, who has plans for his "Mother" to become the owner of the Earth. But he seems to be evil, so things aren't going exactly his way of course, even if he is not as easy to kill as it seems initially. There is a fire, the are soldiers first class, seemingly a high decoration in the world of Final Fantasy and last but not least there are samples. I believe these two are lab-created human beings with special powers who managed to get out their prison. Recommended to fans of the series if you can understand Japanese or find subtitles, not recommended to everybody else.
juzandbut This movie was really nice. It obviously takes place before Advent Children, so if you haven't seen it, (which you should,) then this would be a good start. Last Order seems to focus mostly on Tifa and Zach, and of course, cloud. Although it doesn't seem to cover much of the background of the jenova project, that was probably the movies only flaw. sephiroth gets some nice parts, and you get to see him battle with cloud and Zach for a brief while. it takes place in several famous locations rendering it to the final fantasy series. its a good movie though, the dubs are great. and you should see it if you haven't already.
yukons17 This little movie is fantastic. I think the art is good and the music fits. The character development is amazing considering the short length of the film.As for the story, it's interesting for fans of the game and for n00bs to the FFVII compilation. I've heard debate about the accuracy of the story compared to the game, but I don't see how due to the complex gaps left in the game story. If anything, I felt Last Order answered many questions about the complicated events of Cloud's past.Nonetheless, any fans of the genre at all should experience this. I was glued to the screen from start to finish. I'm excited to see where the FFVII series will go next. -yukons
lostmercenary99 At first I wasn't too eager on this anime when I heard about it. For some reason I just thought it was a bad idea. But now after watching it my opinion has switched completely. "Last Order: Final Fantasy VII" is superb. The animation is beautifully done and the short 20 minute story was a nice touch to the FF7 main storyline. But there were quite a few plot holes that annoyed me. The biggest being when Tifa see Cloud and talks to him. This did not happen in FF7!!!! The writer just seemed to want to stick in a Cloud/Tifa moment and just take a dump on the continuity. This really annoyed me and its the animes biggest plot hole and downfall. Actually the speech in that scene is in the actual game. It occurs when Cloud and Tifa are in the lifestream together and we see Cloud's true memories. When watching the bit in the reactor that LO killed we hear the two characters speaking those lines while watching their past.Zack vs. Sephitoth fight was brilliant. It was short and sweet and Cloud finished him off with style. Although Seph originally got thrown in the mako pit he didn't jump in FF7 like he did here. Also it was cool to see the Turks, Hojo and Zangan. In conclusion I thought this anime was brilliant! Although if your the kind of person who nitpicks at every plothole you can find I suggest don't watch it.
