I was able to watch this movie at home on BluRay from my public library. The story mainly concerns a character played by David Oyelowo. He is Harold, a dedicated, serious, hard-working employee of a firm located in Chicago. His "best friend" runs the company, but as things unfold we see that his friend is duplicitous and will do anything for the bottom line.Harold goes to Mexico but finds out his company sale is imminent and he will be out of a job. Industriously he plots to fake his own kidnapping in an attempt to get a big severance for himself. $5Million sounds pretty good, doesn't it?Yet nothing goes as it should, the mess gets bigger and bigger. It is a dark comedy, lots of funny stuff but characters get shot and killed. While I enjoyed it as an interesting diversion, with very good actors, in total it isn't a particularly good movie.

It took a little bit for this one to get revved up, but once it did, boy howdy, it really delivered the goods. Darkly humorous, ultra-violent, and plot twists that keep coming right up to the very end, Gringo easily measures up to its contemporaries such as "Lucky Number Slevin", "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels", and "Snatch".
Stellar camera work, magnificent writing, and all-around great performances by Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Joel Edgerton, and the amazing David Oyelowo. Put this one on the must see list, gang!

Sometimes you just need a good entertaining movie to pass the day. Great writing, plot, and a bunch of OMG and WTF moments. This accomplished that very well. Entertaining all the way through.

This film tells the story of an African American man, who becomes entangled in a big mess in Mexico during his work trip.It is a pleasure to watch the numerous faces in the film. Charlize Theron stands out because she continues to be beautiful but super tough. The large number of characters and the complex (for a comedy) plot can sometimes be hard to follow. I still enjoyed the film though.
