brandonwhite-40305 This movie adaptation of the well-known play Hamlet, directed by Kenneth Branagh is a masterpiece at worst; giving new life to the play and imagining it in a whole new light. This adaptation depicts the tragedy of young Hamlet with many new inspiring takes on Shakespear's original play. Having Kenneth Branagh playing the roles of both the director and taking on the main role of Hamlet, allows a perfect depiction of the character to be conveyed by himself exactly like he wanted Hamlet to be portrayed. This portrayal shows the deep emotions and thoughts of Hamlet giving the movie a more adult atmosphere, as younger viewers may not understand the meaning or interpretations as clearly. I do believe that this movie did a good job at keeping true to the story and plot of Hamlet, whilst still adding extra chaos and effects to improve the viewing experience. The great acting of Kenneth Branagh and the directional decisions he took to design this movie adaptation are two of the many reasons I found this piece entertaining to watch. I feel that his interpretation of Hamlet and small personal changes to the film from the original work helped create Shakespear's work to be visually expressed. This kept the movie both entertaining and exciting to watch, while keeping the same dramatic tragedy. I could not possible recommend this adaptation of Hamlet more than I already am as this was a wonderful film to watch and I hope whoever reads this review watches it too.
kurstinbohanan The movie and the book were very simaliar however I was not a fan of how over-dramatized the movie was. For example, Hamlet swung on a chandelier in the movie to kill Claudius, however in the book he just poisoned him. Another example would be when Hamlet threw the sword at Claudius, it went too far. The plot however was still was the same which I enjoyed.
eriksivertsen-52715 Hamlet is a play written by William Shakespeare remastered in movie form by Kenneth Branagh. Hamlet is about a prince seeking revenge for the death of his father as his obsession slowly drives him crazy. Kenneth Branagh did a very nice job on this movie, I'll admit that I really liked this movie. That being said: Some of the dialogue in the movie is hard to understand but I won't blame Branagh for this because in shakespeare's original writings it's kind of hard to understand. Branagh's interpretation however does trade some of the source material for his own twist on such as the final scene where he adds some more action to it which is fine for me because it's enjoyable. You can tell the actors are enjoying reading their line from the amount of effort that they put into it, however sometimes it's to over the top and just laughable. The cinematography is well done but it starts to feel the same with the same constant rotational shots on a dolly camera whenever the characters are exchanging dialogue; this isn't noticeable if you aren't looking for it or if your invested in the story. I would recommend seeing this if your just someone who watches movies, just want to laugh at the goofy dialogue and how it's delivered, or if you want to appreciate one of shakespeare's classics revisualised in the modern day.
alyssaslaight In the movie Hamlet, a Shakespearean tragedy, written by William Shakespeare and directed by Kenneth Branagh, the actors portrayed many parts with excellence and followed the play's write to the fullest. The movie Hamlet, shows young Prince Hamlet, a conflicted Dane, battling with his emotions while dealing with the death of his father. He begins to suspect foul play in King Hamlet's death and vows to avenge his death. Hamlet depicts very dramatic and tragic scenes throughout the movie, keeping the watchers very attentive as the plot progresses. The director and screenwriters kept the script very close to the original play, making only a few slight changes in dialogue. This kept the movie very similar in comparison to the play, making it less confusing and easier to understand. Although there are many great aspects of the movie, I felt that it lacked in certain areas. For example, actors with a smaller or less important role seemed to be disconnected and distant from the scenes in the movie. I also feel that during some of the soliloquies, it was difficult to understand what was being said, due to how fast they were speaking. This play would most likely be directed towards people in their mid-teens years since some scenes and dialogue would be hard for anyone younger than that to comprehend. In summary, Hamlet is a well-written movie that keeps to the original play. This makes it easy to understand and watch. The movie keeps with the storyline and has a very dramatic plot that keeps the watches attentive. It is definitely worth watching.
