carbuff To begin with, I'm an adult male who tends to like movies that adult males like, and I have a confession to make. I absolutely, totally, completely, loved the first "Hoodwinked" cartoon movie, which I'm pretty certain was aimed at prepubescent children. This follow-up, while not nearly as clever as the original, is still entertaining enough to be worth the time. It does have some problems , however. It was no doubt produced to capitalize on the success of the first one, but, in this case, the pop culture references are overdone and the plot has been neglected. It definitely follows the pattern of the sequel being worse than the original, but not so much so, that it's not worth watching. It's also fun, because kids will get some of the references, adults will get others, and both together will get yet others. Overall, a fun, safe time for the entire family that everyone should be able to find something to like about.
FairlyAnonymous Hoodwinked! (2005) was a mildly unique movie that had very underwhelming animation, but it was able to more than make up for it with clever writing, funny characters, and a lot of great gags. Sure, it looked awful, but it was still a great animated movie.Hoodwinked Too!... not so much. The amount of problems with Hoodwinked Too! are beyond count. It is an awful movie on almost every level, and it has maybe only one or two jokes that are kind of funny. The plot... is... generic and terribly paced. Pacing is probably the movie's biggest issue because there is almost no explanation for why things happen when they happen. Are we shifting scenes to a new random location? Are we on a new mission without properly explaining why? Red and Wolf now can't stand each other even though they were friends in the last movie? Red and Wolf have an emotional breakdown with non- stop bickering about who's fault it was that a mission failed, but there is no build-up to this anger so it is random... does this happen? Yes. The characters in this movie talk only in exposition and do so in such a terrible manner. They reveal their emotions and all of their thoughts so much that it sounds like the characters are simply reading off of a summary of themselves. An even worse example is that Red and Grandma have a supposedly emotional scene where they are both captured... the only problem with this is that it also the very first time both characters are seen in the same shot together. It is hilariously bad how they are talking to each other as if they have had any conversations with each other before and yet they haven't. It is really stupid. Now, while the first movie had bad animation for its time, it was used cleverly and still had some good shots. However, this movie, not only has bad animation, it just looks downright ugly. To make matters even worse, not only is the animation ugly, but the shots and camera angles are downright awful a lot of the time. Pretty much the entire Beanstalk scene was awful to look at and had derpy shots. Even the character designs in this movie are far worse than the last movie. To add to THAT, ALL OF THE CHARACTERS MOVE HORRIBLY! All of the walking animations look gosh awful. Heck, they even ruined Nicky Flippers' graceful walking and calm attitude.Almost all of the characters have been rewritten and don't act the same as before. Also, a lot of the new characters that are thrown in are equally bad. There is a cameo where it turns out the Happy Yodelers were actually secret spies and fighters... wow... plot- twist. But, they are never seen before the plot-twist, so it doesn't make sense. You need to introduce them first, then do the plot- twist. You can't have them show up as a plot-twist with a twist! It is just plain stupid! So while all of that is awful, one of the worst elements of the movie is that it thinks it is a good movie. I'm not even joking, the movie has at least 3-4 meta/fourth wall jokes about how "Sequels are always nice" or "I like deserved sequels" and other stuff like that. It is really sad because either the makers have absolutely no idea that it was an awful movie or else they know it is an awful movie and they were throwing in cheesy sarcasm to express their hate for the project. All in all, Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil is far worse than anything I could've expected it is just downright bad. I thought that maybe this movie was at least half-entertaining... but it is only fun to make fun of. Also, I am quite aware that this was originally going to be a straight to DVD release, but that is no excuse.
Ryan_MYeah Let's just say that this film wins the prize for most unnecessary sequel of the year. haters of Pirates 4 and Cars 2, step back. The film opens with a mission by the Happily Ever After agency, led by Agent Nicky Flippers, to rescue Hansel and Gretel from a witch. Granny gets kidnapped by the witch, and so the big bad wolf goes looking for Red Riding Hood, now a member of an organization "Of the Hood." Joining forces, they go on a mission to discover the mystery behind Granny's disappearance, and what follows is a series of dupes, and fairy tale references. You've been hoodwinked into forking over hard earned money. Before you ask me exactly WHY I watched the movie, I'll tell you. It's because I liked the first film. Some can fault the first film if they want, but I think its half decent story, clever jokes, and low budget animation charm give it a nice identity. In short, the sequel fails to live up to the first film in any way, it's also the second worst film featuring Red Riding Hood I've seen this year, the first being that boring Amanda Seyfried flick. The story is forced, under developed, bolted down, and lacking in coherency. The laughs fall especially short of the edge. I can't say it didn't make me laugh a few times, but even that's not enough to cover it. The cast tend to be obnoxious, monotonous, and feel wasted, just like their characters that could have worked if more effort had been put into it. The film's biggest saving grace is its brisk running time of just under 80 minutes. But if you do see this film expecting a good time, prepare to be duped.I give it *1/2 out of ****
dconsulta IN my opinion: 1. Red Riding Hood is in my personal opinion a violent, impulsive girl. Not a good example for display. 2. She preaches the Good by practicing physical violence. Not a good example for display either. 3. She can't control herself, she has a attitude problem. I can't get how this movie is out there for kids. 4. There are scenes with armed characters trying to shoot (or kill) other characters. As a matter of a fact, I understood as a childish way to show Homicide Attempt. 5. Physical violence is shown as something funny, like in a comedy atmosphere when it is just not OK to pass this message to children. 6. A psychiatry award is shown as a disgusting place when it is a place where unhealthy people seeks therapy and deserves be treated with dignity. I totally dislike the movie and regretted to bring my child to watch it.
