Lisa Clement I found this movie to be extremely heartfelt and the beginning of a possibly full length movie. The struggles to deal with the death of the mother, the attempted breaking of bonds between father and daughter, and the creation of bonds between boy and ferret are heartwarming and leave the viewer with a sense of goodness and fulfilment. Considering the fact that the movie was a short film, a few small issues must be over looked regarding the deflation of certain scenes, but this is totally understandable. I am a ferret owner (Ferrent), and fell in love with the concept of the creation of this film as a Ferrent. But, I found that though Jasper (Falcor) plays an extremely important role in the film, as with Jake (Connor). It is not really the characters themselves that project the story, it is the story itself that projects itself. Yes, I realize that that may sound confusing, but it is as Marshall McLuhan states "The medium is the message". 4 paws way up everyone!
fallonferts I have been watching this film's progress for a long time, at last a good film about a ferret. Hope someday to see a full length version-- love love love this movie.A must see for all ferret folk and non-ferret people as well-- in fact! If you're an animal lover, watch this movie! Those who say animals can't love are so wrong. Jake & Jasper shows the loving bond between animal & human. My first ferret was brought into our home to help with my daughters depression-- he saved her life and sanity and made a confirmed FERRET lover.I loved Jake & Jasper: A Ferret Tale!!! I thought Connor Stanhope and Falcor (the ferret) I was left wanting MORE though.
Kathy Balman This is a wonderful family movie and teaches valuable lessons in compassion, friendship, fighting, family and ferrets. The film is not rated but I can tell you there is no foul language, nudity or violence. It is very safe for all ages! The film is 25 min 14 sec long great for short attention spans. There are also a few special features like: Behind the Scenes: The Making of Jake and Jasper, Funder's Pets Photo Montage (the kids loved this), Official Trailer and Fundraising Promo Video. And if you do some searching and hit the #1 on your remote you can even some hidden goodies like a blooper reel. I love the tag line for the movie which is, "sometimes all you need is a little friendship." And I loved the cinematic techniques used throughout the film. One of my favorite parts was the meadow scene with the white horse (Gwyn mentions it in here review). I also thought the acting was very well done and Jesse (played by Nina Hagerty) did such a great job with the scene where she gives Jasper to Jake (totally brought tears to my eyes). Both kids loved how Jasper (played by Falcor) looks just like our Jester. But they were disappointed when they tried to get Jester to do tricks like Falcor did in the movie, like fetching, rolling over and begging.Like Gwyn mentioned, Jake played by Connor Stanhope is homeschooled. I asked Connor on his Facebook page what he liked most about homeschooling and what his favorite subject was. He replied "Hi :) I think one of the things I like best is being able to work at my own pace. I also like being able to choose some of my own things to learn. My favorite subject is science." Being a homeschool family we love to support movies that feature homeschooled actors. We highly recommend this movie to ferret, nature, animal, family, homeschool, short film movie lovers everywhere. If you would like to watch a video review here is the link http://youtu.be/xBPs2Vk3Lrc
Harry Dickson Absolutely brilliant, from start to finish there's never once a dull moment it's always full of emotion from happy to sad! had me tearing up A LOT at certain points (won't spoil) Jake (Connor Stanhope) done an absolutely fantastic job portraying the role of Jake, for someone so young his acting is fantastic, it's in the eyes! as did the rest of the cast, especially Nina Hagerty as Jakes sister. I've already watched it 5 times and might just need to watch it again - Jasper (Falcor) is far too cute and adorable, very well trained and does a great job of following the commands required for some scenes! Cannot fault the plot and storyline, so easy to follow and understand full of excitement and twists!
