tadaia Season 1 of Luke Cage was entertaining but Season 2 has raised the series to a whole new level... and one that I didn't expect to see from this genre. While Mike Colton may not be an Emmy winning actor in this, he does seem to embody the best of Luke. It's the rest of the cast that takes this series to unexpected heights. Missick, Rossi, Ringgold, RC Jones, TQ Jones, RE Cathey and others are all excellent. As well, Shakir as Bushmaster is dark, formidable and frightening. But the real gem here is Alfre Woodard... WHEW! It'll be a travesty if she doesn't at least get an Emmy nomination. Mariah Stokes Dillard is at times oddly sympathetic and at others she's bone-chilling concentrated evil. For my money she's the best Marvel TV series villain yet. Woodard's performances are a stunning tour de force, thankfully due in part to the writers and directors allowing the show to take the time to breathe rather rush from one action sequence to the next. Those that came looking for that type of show (just action) may be a bit disappointed, but for me THIS is what most of the Marvel shows should be. With 13 episodes there's plenty of time for the audience to immerse themselves into Cage's vivid world of well constructed character interrelationships. This season boasts a heterogeneous collection of dynamic characters written with clear motivations and a sense of purpose. The ending was surprising but a pleasant one that sets up some intriguing prospects for Season 3. I, for one, am looking forward to it.
dobbouk Has me hooked. Love the politics behind it all too. Great characters thar you can empathise with.
ajohnson_avon I knew nothing of this show and especially didn't know it was derived from a comic. I would see the title and keep going and I did so for about a year. The other night, nothing else was on and I selected it and I promise I binge-watched Season 1 and 2. LOL. Season 1 was decent and I was watching intensely because the 1st season sets the stage. It was interesting in that I read the comic is from back in the 70's but I love how the show reveals a modern adaptation of the comic. It works and it is refreshing. It isn't too outlandish in that you don't have people that are half person/half animal type stuff going on. There are some lines that are corny or cheesy but I accept it because it keeps the nostalgia of the dialogue from comics. I mean..it can be pretty cheesy at times. Season 2 was FIRE!!! My favorite being Bushmaster. Mustafa Shakir embodied that character so much it was crazy. I kept saying Bushmaster wants Mariah Dillard, oh I mean Mariah Stokes..(LOL) he wanted to kill her so bad he was bloodthirsty for her. I love the stories within stories. Misty and her issues, Luke and his issues, Tilda and her issues, Shades and his issues and so on and so forth. There are many layers, and plenty of conflict and Season 3 can only be better!!! I'm looking forward to Season 3!!! Sincerely, A new fan.
ngrossen The acting is terrible. Dialogue cringeworthy. And the music is just god awful
