jessicahrogers My cousins fished this out of the Walmart value bin, along with many other classics, like the "The New Adventures of Robin Hood" and "Tommy: Lost in the Jungle" cartoons. BUT THIS IS LIVE-ACTION. You get to see real people, in 3D, working their magic(*wink-wink*). Everyone who has watched this film is lucky. The cast, the story, the setting...all masterfully done. Dissenters simply don't understand king things. I am certain that I am right. A fool? I AM NOT!
hersheylover5 Let me start off by saying this movie made my friends and I laugh our head off. It was clear that this movie wasn't supposed to be funny. It was just that bad. Our favorite parts were: The random fart the king-guy with horns makes. Oh, and you can totally tell he is reading his lines off of his hands. Oh, and when he can't think of what to talk about he just goes "AHHHHH!!!". His henchman, uh... not the worm guy, but the other one...Fetch (great names)had such a weird accent and poorly dubbed lines that we had no idea what he was saying half the time. In the beginning the mom calls her own son a loner. Plus she looks like the same person who played the elf-girls mom. We think that they are half-brother and half-sister. Okay the end (so if you don't want me to spoil it for you, don't read). The FOUR soldiers that Max brings from the ground. OH!!! four guys in heavy metal!! YAY!! we can win now!!! The evil horn-guy is attacked by mice and disappears. but then later he is a mouse and he is kept in Max's room. Oh, yes. Let's keep the bad guy as a PET!!! Novel idea!! Overall, wow. If you like films that were made on a fifty dollar budget this film is for you!! The film isn't all bad... the makeup was pretty decent.
rer1028 When walking through the local Target, a movie caught my eye. The title drew me in, as well as the playful faces of the characters. I decided that my children had to see this movie, though I knew nothing about it. After putting it in the VCR, I couldn't leave the couch. Though my children may have been bored and got up after the first fifteen minutes, I was spellbound. Pun intended. The acting in this movie is what makes it so superb. I was flabbergasted by Timothy Stultz's performance and his amazing work with the bow staff. The chemistry of the group of actors was so evident, all of them feeding off of Timothy's firey energy and rambunctious personality. I even shed a tear when when Max found out one of his best friends passed away due to the intimacy I formed with Max's character. I would recommend this movie for anyone.
rexdog9 Don't pass this up if you've got A) kindergarten-aged kids and/or B) aspirations to someday grab a camera and enter the world of film-making. This film will satisfy on both counts. On the one hand, it's a solid G-rated film that won't bore the crap out of you, and on the other hand it won't bore the crap out of you because the production values are so low. Bad edits, cheesy sound effects, poor syncing, bad acting, bad special effects, bad direction, this film has it all, planting hope in the breast of any armchair director. And my kids couldn't care less. The film is solid enough to capture their imagination and moves through a story line. What is interesting about this film is its flashes of integrity. Dagda's (Ken Mitzkovitch) vocal performance will make its way into your water cooler chat. His makeup is superb, and so are many of the other characters' makeup. Villains are villainous and heroes are virtuous. Lighting is good throughout. I was continually reminded that someone was taking this thing seriously as it was being made, which sadly is not the case with much of the crap being turned out by directors who are much more connected than is Mr. Summerfield. This is what low-budget indie starter films are for. I look for him to get better and better.
