OK. excellent subplot- it took an old idea, and a new format, and melded it superbly. great performances, lovely casting and outstanding cinematography. REALLY hard to get though!

arus_royus An entertaining movie about heroes saving the earth, old school style, going on a mission knowing that everyone is going to die. The overall feeling of the movie is a bit like as I imagine Warhammer 40K. Everything is dark and gloomy, and mankind is on the verge of extinction. Marvelous what a nice good old fashioned sci fi movie!!!The acting is (maybe deliberately) kept bland and straightforward, reflecting the dark and almost hopeless situation of mankind. But despite and maybe because of the "bad" special effects I felt myself being drawn into the movie, some how the movie appeared ancient, outdated like it itself was dying, and the obvious scenery had a certain charm as if I was viewing a motion picture comic book with real humans trapped in a world they have no power over, but they persevere, yes a hardiness of spirit keeps them going, even though there is no hope.Worth a watch for...who the hell should I know. Maybe I have no taste ;), but I enjoyed watching this movie.

It seems that those that write scathing reviews are always comparing movies they hate to a classic from some other time....what's up with that? If the movie was hyped to the extreme and falls flat, it deserves ridicule. If not, what is the sense in spoiling it for everyone else. Movies, and the watching of them, are personal experiences. Unless there is some uncontrollable need to post vitriol in order to sound perceptive and "intelligrnt, just STFU. I caught it by accident about a year ago late at night, and have watched it very time it's been on since. While it does have it's share of goofy moments, I find the overall tone in the sets and characters to be perfect for the story - dark, stark, and depressing, easily portraying the despair that would exist under such conditions. The use of matte conveyed the supposed age of the subterranean world exceptionally well. All in all, a good watch.PS: After reading dozens of posts, I am shocked that no one commented on the final scene - the alien vessel heading for....MARS.

Enchorde In a dark and grim future four megacorporations have replaced countries. Each set on their own continent a brutal war breaks out in a fight for total conquest. But amidst all fighting an even more brutal and fearsome enemy awakens beneath the ground. Through holes in the ground a breed of aggressive and almost unstoppable mutant humans appear. The four factions must start to cooperate, or the continued existence of humankind is threatened.Though the style and tone of the movie is very consistent and well done, with the dark grey mix of futuristic technology and old architecture sprinkled with religious symbols, the reason to watch this movie is the action. That's despite that the scenery actually is better than the action. But who watches an entire movie just for the settings? The action is decent, average but not much more than that. Effects varies in quality from quite good to far too obvious fake computer generated images. Unfortunately the mutant enemies and most of the blood effects are worst, and seem to have gotten the least attention. A movie built around action and fighting suffers from that.The entertainment is good, if you accept the premise and like dystopic science fiction. But the movie will be just average at best.5/10
