rose-forest Time travel meets supergirl. At first I was a little skeptical about this movie. The beginning starts off a little slow, and the actors are a bit too old for the roles they played. However, all of this matters little when viewing the overall picture.
ryuuzaki lawliet From the very beginning it was only bad acting and terribly clichéd plot. Having watched this a while ago I can guarantee that it sticks in your mind - my abhorrence for it, that is. Unfortunately I don't recall the soundtrack or special effects (although most reviews seem have to have been positive about these). However the whole turning-back-time-saving- someone, despite having links to Anna's own sister's story, is far too predictable, and I felt that the story was barely worth watching. If the writers want to improve their work, an original twist is needed. Also that bit about "I get injured every time I rewind time" needed to be introduced earlier. It just seemed like an excuse. Character development sucked - Angela continues to commit suicide after making her first friend, but not for her first lover? Acting was terrible. Anna definitely seemed more natural on her usual YouTube channel. All in all I didn't want to watch this at all. A rating of 4 is more deserving than an 8. RayWilliamJohnson's and Anna's fans should be ashamed of themselves for the overrated reviews. This web series was sub-par in every way.
jcjudkins Anna (the writer) lost her sister a few years ago to suicide, and this is basically a reenactment of "what if I could go back and save her?" type movie. She wrote this because of her sister.I don't see how the plot is so "bad" by her trying to help save someone by using this rewinding ability. Some people are really harsh while critiquing this movie. I know it's not the best movie, but it has some good potential none the less. The message being sent here is supposedly: "Make every moment count, because you can't go back and change it." It's target audience is a little unclear, though. I think it's directed at teenagers because of some language they put in, but it seems to be directed at YOUNGER people as well because of the innocent plot-line and lack of major violence and sexuality. It's quite tame, and definitely not bad for a younger audience as long as they don't mind some swearing. I don't think it's directed at people who already have 30 or 40 years behind them... I think it's audience is the younger school kids who still have a lot of time ahead of them, and are figuring out who they are. Finding out how to "be a good person" to other people throughout their high school years. The movie seems kinda rushed as well. They could have put a lot more into the movie if they wanted to, but if they had it may be overdone. Riley Rewind is NOT a failed attempt at a debut movie. It's very DIFFICULT to make a good movie as it is. I'm surprised Ray didn't crash and burn on this one. It's well done, considering it's his first movie. I give it around a 7.5 out of ten. I hope Ray and Anna can take what they learn from this film and use it to their own personal growth as producers. And as for Anna, I think critics should tone it down just a tad given the fact that the movie's purpose came from her hardships of losing her sister and her desired fantasy to rewind time to bring her back if she could. I personally hope Anna is proud of this project, even if a large amount of fans aren't. I await to see what movies they'll bring about in the future.
eliezercervantes97 This is a web series directed by Ray William Johnson whom people may recognize from his show, "Equals 3", and it tries really hard to be dramatic but the acting, situations and script just don't let it reach that level. The performances here are pretty mediocre and the script is cringe-worthy at times. The only promising performances are given by the two main actors, Anna Akana, who wrote this web series, and Lamar Legend, who plays her gay bff. One good thing came out of this and that is that the director, Ray, showed us how good a show with a 100k budget can look, the web series looks good with some effective lighting and decent cinematography.Overall this is a 4 out of 10 from me because it is a flat out mediocre show, the budget is stretched thing and looks good sometimes but thee writing and acting really puled it down, what surprises me is that at the time that this review was written, this series had an 8.9 score which is a very high score.
