Leofwine_draca Noomi Rapace seems to be working hard in taking on challenging roles in her career and RUPTURE is such a role. Unfortunately, despite the physical performance she gets to give, RUPTURE is a lesser film and one that suffers from an all-too-familiar air of predictability. She plays an ordinary mother who gets kidnapped by mysterious strangers and subjected to various cheesy fear tests in a locked room, which mainly involve her being menaced by CGI spiders. The film plays out at a slow pace and gradually builds to a left-of-field climax that relies too heavily on more CGI for effect. It's certainly not the worst plot I've seen, but it is limited and similar plots have been done better previously.
darill-28027 The movie was pretty good all the way until the end. It had a horrible ending as if we will never know what has happened with the little boy. I hate movies that ends abruptly like that.
thekarmicnomad A woman is abducted by some people who tell her she is special and are going to "change her" to make her perfect. This is a well acted, well shot, fairly well produced mid budget movie. Sometimes the sets look a bit over-lit and the few bits of CGI look cheap and nasty but overall the film is of a high standard. The main character is very good and has a lot to shoulder. She does spend the majority of the film trussed up in one way or another looking petrified. This is not done in a way that makes it graphic, gory or titillating. The only problem here is that the story doesn't have an awful lot to say but takes its merry time saying it.Now, if you can get into this movie I think you will find it tense and enjoyable. I found I lost my patience a bit, I was gripped enough to want to see it through but my finger was hovering over the fast forward. It appears I have a limit to the amount of time I am prepared to watch someone tied to a table and preached at.The ingredients are here for something pretty good but be prepared to put the work in yourself.
Art Forman would have given it 10, but it is a B film & 10 for me means best I have ever seen this is about as good a horror film as I have seen, with the horror being torture for religious/political purposes, something already repugnant Noomi Rapace deserved an Oscar for her brilliant work as the torture subject & the story line with her as a struggling single Mom was brilliant the direction was tight as were the production values, though I think the transformation that gave its title a tad crude ...those who may abhor any torturing of women, may find comfort (¿if that is the right word?)in the male being held near her cell, whose travails teach her about her dreadful circumstances & seem even more dreadful than hers, though that may be only my perspective & cold comfort, particularly as his travails proved pointless I much prefer my sci/fi more scientifically sound, such as in the brilliant and more hopeful I Origins, which deserves a 10, IMHO that said Rupture is compelling and ultimately positive, albeit with a classically ambivalent coda if I can stomach a second viewing, I may revise my vote, likely up well worth a peak for folks who like viscerally immersive experiences in their horror flicks
