joelsimmons-83642 No real substance in the movie. I mean, i guess they tried to make it as real a possible..........i guess??? I can take so many issues with the actors, but i guess my main grip is the complete white washing. I mean, its 2018, why are black people only in the enemy armies? Especially when there is so much controversy that Samson himself could have been darker skinned (with locked hair). Not trying race bait.......but its 2018.....come on.
bettycjung 5/23/18. I grew up on Biblical epic movies so I love catching them over the years. However, this was awful. I only watched this because Lindsay Wagner was in it and haven't seen her since her Jaime Sommers days as The Bionic Woman. Though older (no plastic work, thank goodness) she gave her role the heart it needed. But the rest was just awful. Watch the 1949 Hedy Lamarr/Victor Mature classic, Samson and Delilah. Hands down, no contest. This is another example of another unnecessary remake.
m-arsic0708 It's not so awful, it's definitely not good, it's just nothing. it's kind of a movie you start watching, leave it to have a shower, do your laundry, organize the high school reunion, come back to it and realize you haven't missed a thing. it always puzzles me how people manage to turn a thrilling story into a glass of flat coke. i give it a 3 for not being as awful as the ben hur remake. not that i consider this fact to be a great achievement.
Michael Ledo Samson is the Hebrew retelling of the story of the sun god Shamash. Sun gods are quick to temper, lustful, and judges. They have long hair which symbolizes the rays of the sun and their great strength. They lose their strength in winter when their rays no longer shine and the sun goes blind. The story left a lot to be desired starting with the acting and dialogue. The Philistines where shown to be far more evil than archeology would have us believe. The Samson character lacked the passion associated with the Biblical character and was rather serene by comparison. The script added details to the biblical tale in order to make a cohesive tale, yet failed in a very important aspect to stick to the story. The Bible does not state that Delilah cut off Samson's hair as the movie erroneously shows, but rather she instructed a man to shave off his seven locks (Judges 16:19). Didn't anyone on the set every read a bible? Billy Zane plays a boring bad guy who gives us the British pronunciation of "privacy."
