Synopsis

Deep in the heart of Jakarta's slums lies an impenetrable safe house for the world's most dangerous killers and gangsters. Until now, the run-down apartment block has been considered untouchable to even the bravest of police. Cloaked under the cover of pre-dawn darkness and silence, an elite swat team is tasked with raiding the safe house in order to take down the notorious drug lord that runs it. But when a chance encounter with a spotter blows their cover and news of their assault reaches the drug lord, the building's lights are cut and all the exits blocked. Stranded on the sixth floor with no way out, the unit must fight their way through the city's worst to survive their mission. Starring Indonesian martial arts sensation Iko Uwais.

HalBanksy There were no surprises with the plot, and the performances were nothing mind-blowing - but this film is about the ACTION, and I was shocked at how well it was executed. Exciting from start to finish. The pace doesn't let up, and some scenes are truly stunning. Brilliant stunts. Can't wait to watch the sequel.
nicolenurdi Finally watched this movie after so many people (on the internet) recommending it, and well, it's one of the very few Indonesian movies which is known abroad, so it has been piquing my interest for quite sometime. And, it did not disappoint. Despite the story being very straightforward, with almost no depth to it, the rest was spot on. Never-ending action throughout, accompanied by subtle, but nicely timed background music; and that ending... totally lived up all the hype.
Prashast Singh Movie: The Raid Redemption (A): Action - Indonesian Positives:The film starts very well and soon after some time, the killer action takes the charge and goes on to entertain till the very last frame. The action scenes are extremely excellent and they were so well crafted that while watching the movie, I opened my mouth only to say "wow" at the best moves! The screenplay is very tight and the editing, razor sharp. It's not stretched at all and you won't even wish it to be shorter, especially if you're an action fan.Iko Uwais impresses big time and fits into the character of Rama. As soon as he comes into his action mode, claps and whistles are bound to make an appearance! The film has everything you would want a perfect action film to be.Plus, there isn't any vulgarity or obscenity as the focus is completely on the action and storytelling. Hats off to director Gareth Evans for that!Negatives:Nil.Repeat value: Absolutely!THE RAID REDEMPTION is undoubtedly the best martial arts action film ever. Actually, I had seen the sequel first and liked it a lot. But what makes this prequel better, despite of the sequel having some even better action sequences, is its complete devotion to action.
reidsmailbox I am usually not into action films unless they are really good. This one is totally unique and is now one my #1 action favorite. This movie is like nothing made before. And is so awesome. Go see it.
