asodehmagner I wanted to like this movie but the plot never came to fruition. There was so much that was left unexplained on top of that. The love story itself wasn't beautiful it was confusing and bizarre. I debated reading the book but I don't think it's worth it after watching this.
markbyrn-1 From my vantage point, the definitive romantic time travel movie is the classic 1980 Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour. Sad to say, The Time Traveler's Wife falls far well short in comparison because while it has a bit of romantic sentimentality, it's bogged down by a terribly muddled and eye-rolling time travel element. The time traveler played by Eric Bana has a bizarre genetic condition that causes him to randomly jump back and forth in time like a ping pong ball. Each time he has to endure these time jumps, his clothes stay behind and has had to beg, borrow or steal some duds. He's also prevented from changing the course of events (e.g. preventing his mother from dying in a car wreck) but did manage to remember some lotto picks so his wife could win the lottery in the future -sigh-. They say love conquers but the time plot was simply too preposterous and confusing; if they have made it a farcical comedy, it might have worked.
lrsjr57 I am 59 and have been a scyfy freak since I read Verne at 8 (princess series by Burrows @ 7 yrs) I just love the nearly paradoxical way the different selves nearly run into each other (it would seem) I have love Rachel from the nose bleed section since I 1st saw her and this is one of my favorite of her roles. It often seems to me that there is always the 'messing up the future' stigma that when the reader is trying to console to the possibility of it which is a real 'trip up' part to "Back to the..." stories. I am more of an alternate universe explanation to cover paradoxes while I try to rationalize and justify the concept along my way while living out most stories (or rather diving into the story, living it & becoming a character. I'm Sireadslot and I wear my moniker with pride.
Desertman84 Based on the novel by Audrey Niffenegger about a librarian with a paranormal genetic disorder which allowed him to go back in time and build a romantic relationship with a woman,Clare Abshire, who will become his future wife,The Time Traveler's Wife which stars Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams provides us an entertaining and interesting romantic and dramatic film. This movie written by Bruce Joel Rubin and directed Robert Schwentke present a love story about a man who works in the library from Chicago and beautiful heiress at different events of their lives as they try to build a stable and firm romantic relationship with each other.Despite the fact that it is a typical chick flick and it does not have a refreshing nor an original fantasy romantic drama, both lead stars - Bana and McAdams - provide a great and compelling performance that the viewer becomes focused on their characters - Henry DeTamble and Clare DeTamble - being on a long-distance romance with respect to time and their actions to have a successful and fulfillment in their relationship.Despite having characteristics of certain movies like the Back To The Future movies and Brad Pitt's The Case Of Benjamin Button,it will still delight many viewers who love romantic movies whether comedy or drama. In the end,it will still delight them in more ways than one.Credit the lead stars for their performance in it.
