Reviews

torstensonjohn Martin Scorsese (Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Casino) the man is a master of bringing to life films with character driven devices. The over the top performance by Leonardo DiCaprio is devout acting at it's finest. In my opinion it is flawless, he is effortless in his performance. The plot is wisely made to begin like a 50's detective thriller with Caprio playing a US Marshal and Mark Ruffalo his partner "Chuck", called upon to investigate a disappearance of a patient on Shutter Island. As the fil swiftly moves along the picture and plot become entangled in something more mysterious and sinister going on within the island. The dynamic of the film paces perfectly which keeps the audience enthralled in what is happening. A ensemble cast with Sir Ben Kingsley playing the lead doctor/psychiatrist, Michelle Williams as Leo's wife and rounding out such a great cast is Emily Mortimer, Max Von Sydow, Jackie Earle Haley, Ted Levine, Elias Koteas. This is a mind blowing, mind bending style of thriller, suspense and drama. I enjoyed the film from it's start to it's climactic ending. Truly a masterpiece in storytelling. I give it a 9 out of 10
Blue Blood This movie has a linear screenplay, with misserable events around the characters. This movie portrait like a first person video game. Every time am watching the movie, I pretend to be the character of Leonardo. The casting of this movie was portrayed tremendously. Martin has projected the reality of the thoughts which we came across the dreams.
cinephile-27690 I did not think this was bad. But as a guy who directed my favorite movie(Silence, along with The Last Temptation of Christ) and other favorites like The Aviator or The Departed-who also have the same star, I found this to be weak. It was engaging at first and had a mind blowing end, but the middle seemed to lag behind. I hated The Wolf of Wall Street, and this is only one movie better. It's not bad, if you want to see it, I won't discourage it. Just know Martin can do better than this.
coursey693 I never really planned to watch this film because I read the book years before they made this movie. However, a boring afternoon caused me to break down and finally watch it. While the movie does not stray too far from the spirit of the book, it addresses some aspects in a different way that I found quite satisfying. Anyway, I will leave the serious reviews to those who can actually write.
