Great show with some great dialogue and characters. The show is entertaining from start to finish. Character relationships and dialogue are hilarious at times while still maintaining the seriousness with one another. The continually growing plot and development of all the characters keeps you invested and wanting to watch more. Cameos from big stars and athletes is a bonus for the show. I recommend this show to anyone.

Dwayne Johnson does a good job acting as the retired pro football player Spencer Strasmore. This show is a mix of Californication and house m.d. Hes portrayed as a guy with chronic pain after a injury on the field, he thinks he can make a difference for players handling their finance, but struggling finding out who he really is after a pro carrier in football and a divorce."Warning" semi spoiler below"The show has its moments like season 3 after they get thrown out of a strip-club and Spencer deliver hes speech for the footballers. There are flaws in the series. like the co star Joe (Rob Corddry) who more reminds you of a kind Charlie Runkle (Evan Handler Californication) the show tries so hard to make him a equal to the rock, but ends up pitching bad lines and bad acting. If you are a fan of Californication your definitely a fan of ballers.Over all 8/10 stars a really good show, and a unique series at the moment.

Ballers started off great with some interesting conflicts that you couldn't wait to see how they turned out. In the end, all the conflicts were solved to easily and made it feel like a real let down. For example, when the Vernon Littlefield blackmail situation came up in the show, what would have made it interesting was if Vernon's best friend was behind it. In the end it was Spencer Strasmore's ex and all he had to do was talk to her to resolve it...... really. The created lots of interesting story-lines only to just disappoint in the end. The Rock was great though, Rob Corddry did a good job, he was funny. Troy Garity and Dulé Hill also did a good job and fit their roles well. This show has potential to be really great. The writers just need to amp up the drama with some surprises and don't let a situation hang around for three episodes if the resolution is going to be simple.

I've seen the previews for this show and I was FAR from convinced. I watched the show (mostly because I have HBO free for a year) and I was pleasantly surprised. Comedy is a far stretch, the show is a drama with some funny moments. With that being said it is a good show and the Rock and his supporting cast are great. Let's be honest movie channels do it big and they aren't afraid to be a little edgy so if you have HBO give it a shot. Many movies and shows have failed in the advertisement department this year, just god awful. I base most of my TV and movie watching on previews and occasionally word of mouth as well as user reviews on IMDb. What else can I base my opinion on? Critics? No thanks. A preview is like a good old fashion sales pitch and in my opinion "Ballers" failed horribly. The show itself was entertaining and insightful, had I not had HBO for free I would have never watched and certainly never paid for it.
