I have just watched almost the whole series over a 1 week period. After about 4 episodes I knew it wouldn't get to a second series and almost stopped watching the rest. It suffers from what I call the Stephen King Syndrome. Very little of real substance told over too long a period and huge amounts of information about what the subject had for breakfast months ago. Up to about episode 13 now and will watch till the end only because of the time already invested. In other shows these 13 episodes could have been told in about 4 episodes. I do admit that when I started watching I wasn't really aware that it was a prequel to BSG hence a lot of it made no sense. For any show to last several series it has to stand alone and this didn't. I do think that the actors aren't too bad but the story is abysmal. Too much "fracking". Too much violence that appeared to be added for the sake of it. And a society at this level should be well aware of the health hazard that smoking is.And what a society. At episode 13 I am having a hard time thinking (now that I know BSG is to follow) that anybody except the Cylons should win.

I was excited by the movie and a first nine episodes but then I think the writing cast was replaced by the writing cast from Days of Our Lives. Understanding psyche of the cylons to rebel against their makers should've been the key plot. The movie started with that type of social science and first nine episodes built upon it then it became a soap opera. The show had great potential for fusing physical science and social science but they chose to make it an emotional baggage trip.Zoe's fight to survive was seriously downplayed by the egos of over the hill actors who had to show they have some kind of acting ability. The Graystone mob connection ate up so much valuable time that Zoe's fight for survival was downplayed. The S.T.O angle was the great plot to rocket the cylon rebellion but the soap opera between Clarice Willow and Amanda Graystone again distracted from the main plot of the cylon psyche. The writers forgot this show with a prequel to Battlestar Galactica the main focus being the understanding of the cylon's point of view. The Graystone family should only have been a vehicle support cylon pointed of view. Instead it became the main plot and I truly believe it was because of the actor's egos.

This is a really good sci-fi series... I just started watching on netflix and so far I'm captivated. I started with the modern version of Galatica. I remember watching the original in late 70's. Galatica and Star Trek got me hooked on sci-fi geek shows (and tech) when I was a kid. Galactica is a good series, but I think Caprica is actually a better show. I think it has more talented actors, and the premise of the show is much more interesting. Not to mention far more character and background development in the story; something you can relate to and is believable. Why the frack are there only 2 seasons of this show. They could have expanded on this for at least 6 seasons, at a minimum. There is so much ground work they laid down in the story line that I've watched so far that they could have gone on for a long time, even killing off some characters (permanently) and introducing new ones. And I'm only part way through the first season.Bring it back please!
