Shweta Mayekar Deadwood. The writers of this show really know how to write a character. The show paints authentic people and has casted them even better. I have always known Ian McShane as an evil rotten actor and hence was fully prepared to hate him in this show. On completing the first season of this series, I am left thoroughly confused, as with the course of the season, my hatred towards him has surprisingly changed into slight admiration tinged with disgust. Not one character on this show is wholly good or bad, but instead are different shades between black and white. I find myself rooting for the baddies but still hoping justice is doled out. Timothy Olyphant is a delight to watch and so are the supporting cast. Brad Dourif especially stands out as Doc. The show is paced a bit slow but it doesnt disappoint, as every actor shines in their respective role. I cant wait to watch the second season to see the relationship between characters develop or rot. Anything can happen in Deadwood.
medicinewoman54 I wish that the writers would not feel the need to lace the dialog with endless F - bombs. People did not talk like that in the 1800's. The actors are good. Timothy Olyphant is great.
Rainbowpug I just finished binge watching this show after years of meaning to. I've never been a fan of Westerns, though I can no longer claim that. Since I'm a Fear the Walking Dead fan, and two of the actors from that are in Deadwood, I figured this was probably a good time to watch it.I LOVED this show! It was so well-made I felt I could actually feel what it must've been like living in those times. Not only were the sets incredible and the costumes out of this world, but the lighting through the whole thing made me keenly aware throughout the entire thing, that they did NOT have electricity. Now, as far as the acting...Robin Weigert as Calamity Jane was probably the single most entertaining performance in a show I've ever experienced. Hilarious, pitiful, brilliant...for me the show would've been good without her, but it wouldn't have been par excellence. What a chameleon that actress is! All the other actors were good, too, and believable in their roles. Tricky giving Garret Dillahunt two separate rolls, possibly thinking no one would notice, but I did right away. I almost thought it was three roles, since Jeff Cahill, who played Crop Ear, looks very similar to Dillahunt. So hoping there really is going to be a movie!
CesarVicente I started watching WestWorld recently and remembered DeadWood, a series I really enoyed watching years ago. The only negative thing was that it stopped abruptly, which is a terrible shame on the pieces of s**** who decided to cancel the series.
