I don't agree with the purists: Diablo Guardián is a darn good adaptation of a novel that wouldn't fit work as a movie. The actors are amazing, both Violetta (Paulina Gaitán) and Nefastófeles (Andrés Almeida) did an outstanding job. Also, let's remember Xavier Velasco (the writer) chose Paulina and Pig, he helped with the casting. So, needless to say I love it. I think it'll become a big event for Prime Video production and it's already a high mark for Mexican TV.

I can't even start to enlist all of the things that are wrong about this adaptation:The cast (with the exception of Andrés Almedia), is full of pretty untalented actors; they spent more time showing Violetta's tits and ass, than making the actrees "act".There are tons of chronological mistakes from the begining. The music is way too loud to hear what the characters say.Pushing a cameo from the author of the book was nonesense...Stick with the book and don't waste time on this piece of garbage.

The story is different from what we are used to be told. As chapters go by the story keeps turning to different ways which keeps you engaged and "picado" (in spanish). I haven't read the book but I have heard opposing comments from people who have read it. Most of them say it is an amazing adaptation and is as good as the book since it has the same quotes and the characters were carefully chosen, like "el jardinerito". Others mention they imagined Violetta as a more beautiful actress like Barbara Mori (who is not even mexican) rather than showing good looking girl that can be from a mexican middle class. I think the actress Paulina Gaitan and the other actors do a great job. I liked the fact they were not very well known (except for Pedro Alonso) because it makes the story more credible and unexpected.
