xeneize007 It was the opportunity for Americans to feel what, mainly because of your government's fight against Marxism, millions of people around the world suffered, and are still suffering, including my country, where the coup and the following military regime took the lives of 30000 souls and lead us to a war that was impossible to win and turned us into a scum in international relations, and are also to blame for the catastrophic situation we're on. But let's get to business. At the beggining I thought it was an original idea, that could have been based on the European resistance during WWII. But the hunger for freedom/revenge stepped a side for the Matrix generation who were expecting a John Woo's film, with large backwards jumping and wall walking. A shame. It had a cast that not being the cream of TV it wasn't that bad, specially McCallany and Chorvat. But again what could have become one of the best action shows (but a well done one), became a mere fashion product with expensive sport cars and 4x4, leather and black clothing, an annoying and strident electronic music, a lot of hand to hand fighting and many, many explotions. Not to mention it usually had a stupid plot. Basically it's an example of how to waste a great idea and an adequate cast and turn it into just another product for the 90's Generation.I can't stop imagining what a good show it could have been, or at least in the many good ways the budget could have been used.
melleroo It has been 3 months since they canceled the show and I'm still sad.:( I'm sorry but I can't get over it!It was such a good show.I watched it every Friday it was on-and if there was a even the slightest chance that I would miss it I would set the VCR to record it for me.The action, the actors, the situations, the whole story line its all good!! And now that its gone there is a void left unfilled in my soul. They took it off the air because of poor ratings!I can't believe that people didn't like this show-I mean that MANY people!I have written letters to the TV station pleading with them to put the show back on.But back to the show itself! I really enjoyed how the actors really came together and played their parts well. This show was packed full of action too!Although not all the fighting was that real looking. And I like how the show had a funny side to it too. There were some pretty funny parts in the show if you ask me. But I wish the show had focused a little more on the lives of the actors-not just mission after mission.Maybe a little romance or a sad, heart ripping death or near death scene.I still wish they had ended the show series with a graceful ending instead of just showing re-runs.You know what really burns me up inside though??Is that I didn't even think of recording the whole series!!I mean they only put 7 episodes on the air and ran them twice each-I could have gotten the whole series!I do have one of the episodes on tape but I can't bear to watch it for I fear I'll become to overwhelmed! But if I had the whole series on tape I would feel better. So here is my final salute to freedom. ATTENTION! SALUTE!
zanadc This show is different, new and very interesting. The actors are great and captivating, mainly Holt McCallany and Bodhi Elfman are excellent actors. It is a pity that UPN has canceled the show. I hope that other channel buys the show and continue it. I know that the imitation of Matrix in the fights is absurd in that reality, but removing this the fights is very cool. I really hope the show continues in another channel.
DrkAngel This is without a doubt, one of the finest shows on television today. It's not the best, but one of the very best. What you have here in Freedom is a well cast, well written, and well balanced show. The characters are not the typical formulaic ones. Londo is the clever, one liner kind of guy but he can back it up. Usually these characters are over the top, but in this show is plays perfectly. Decker is the soft spoken, but tough as nails leader, wanting revenge for the death of his wife, and his son who was taken from him. This also is a nice departure, as he is a very complex person who you have to watch in an episode to understand what I mean. As it is hard to describe, it's something you need to see for yourself. Becca, is the strong, fast, and agile female, whom while she doesn't talk much, she sure makes for a well rounded character. She has her comedic moments, and serious ones, and she is so graceful on the screen, not to mention beautiful, she makes for probably the breakout character in the show. Then there is James, otherwise known as "J." He is the loyal, but not afraid to tell the truth, no nonsense kind of guy. Who uses his pent up anger to fight. All these characters have their own sense of humor to them, that really fleshes out how real they are. The actors who play these characters, have been given a role that fits them to a "t." That really showcases their talents. You can click on their names to see their other works, but these are very capable actors, who I think have been given the show of a lifetime. They have a great chemistry with each other, the play off each other so well, it makes the show more believable. The show blends very well a mix of everything. From the camera angles in the slo-mo action scenes, to the wicked scoring by Eddie Jobson. The show is very smooth visually. Yet it is also smooth mentally, the stories thus far for the episodes have been extremely solid. They have proven to be very tight, intricate and neatly tied together. The second episode had many sub-plots that proved to make for one hell of an episode, that really showed off how good the writing is. The show does not insult the audience at all. It's very reminiscent of First Wave, in that Freedom more than respects its audience. It rewards us for watching and doesn't hit us over the head with action. There is really excellent dialogue in the show, and the writers do not give away much through the episode. You think one thing will happen, when they do something else. There is a real balance to this show. The fights themselves are well done, and turn out very natural and just have the right flow to them. The stunts that get the slo-mo speed really show off what the show can do for action and eye candy. It's Matrix-like, but it is not the Matrix. The stunts here are grounded in reality, and do not go beyond that. That adds credibility in my book. It's refreshing to see a clever show with so much heart come up on UPN. In the end this show is about one thing, standing up and fighting for what you believe in. There's no greater message in this world to convey, and with everything else this show has in itself. It truly is nice to see UPN supporting high quality television in the show known as Freedom.
