scottbedoe Can't get over the change in Shelly from season 1 to 2. Every time I see her it makes me mad. The plot goes in every directions and it's all over the place
Leon Smoothy For those of you not yet seen it and wonder: "What differs this from all other monster series (mostly crap) that's been the last 5-8 years?" Well, first it's produced by Eli Roth (you know, the Hostel-movies?). That means: do not eat at the same time you watch, and yes, it is hyper-gory. This shows every brutal detail: eyes popping out, people consuming festered corpse-fluids, several people cut in half, or skinned alive, faces chewed off, showed for all to study in detail. It is damn exciting though, because you'll be sitting guessing who's the main crook, of many evil people, who the first seasons chase is about? You'll probably find that the classic stereotypes of vampire/Werewolf movies are a bit thrown aside here. Of course the perpetrator attacking teenage girls in Jack the Ripper-style × 5 has to be a man, right? Hmm...who could it be? The settings are a combination of hi tech genetic abominations and monsters, and I cannot really understand some of the very low ratings here. I caught me after about 15 minutes and I could not what to get to the end of the first season; now I've started s2.Not for all, but far better than any True Blood or Walking Dead ever was.
birgit_schuette I love everything supernatural and weird, but I just could not get into this whatsoever. It was too slow and boring, and despite watching the first half of the season (and rewatching several episodes), i can't honestly say I remember shit or knew what happened. It just failed to grab my interest so I stopped watching it.
Ferdinand Raditsch I barely glanced at the reviews before trying out Hemlock Grove - I saw they were pretty mixed. I really enjoyed it at the beginning! A mixture of American Horror Story, X-files, the Twilight Saga, and a touch of Bates Motel, it had plenty of potential but a highly unsatisfying ending to season 1. After all the horrible things that happened in that town, I should believe a little girl was the big bad wolf and was capable of eluding everyone the whole time!? The writers of the show couldn't come up with a better closing!?! I hoped it would get better again in season 2, but the plot inconsistencies were terrible. The creativity also went downhill, it wasn't believable anymore, just ludicrous. The only way to hold a horror genre like this together, is to write a story and develop it in a believable manner!! If a certain point is made in the story, it should be upheld until the end of the series and not "forgotten" - it confuses the viewer.Don't get me wrong, this show has a lot of perks such as beautiful filming locations, nice cars, impressive real estate, good looking men, amazingly attractive women, some nudity, some gore and action, and some great suspense - might I add, some great musical selections including a good amount of classical music! Dr. Price became one of my favorites, he had great character development! (They killed him off at the end sadly!) The CGI could have been worked on a bit more but my biggest beef is with the writers (or whoever signed off on the script)!!! And, since they didn't know what to do with it anymore, the second half of the third season is a downwards spiral of deaths of all the main characters! The only person who survived from the very beginning is Shelly! OMG, talk about wrapping this series up in a hurry, a season 4 would be unthinkable. I liked many elements of Hemlock Grove but it was just sooo unsatisfying, why oh why couldn't they have made it better?!?
