Absolite *HEAVY Spoilers AHEAD*This is not a personal bias or anything. This anime is incredible, and one of the only ecchi animes to have an outstanding storyline. I mean angels, fallen angels, and devils is such a creative idea for a storyline. What really drives this anime (besides the almost constant fan service) is Issei's perversion. Issei's lechery drives life and humor into this anime. If issei was not to exist, this anime would suck. The battle sequences are incredible (like the Juggernaut Drive to avenge Asia) and focuses on revealing characters' usually dark backstories. Unlike some amines, most episodes are unique. After the household of Gremory finally accept their differences (especially Koneko towards Issei) this makes the battle sequences more interesting and emotional because each member would die for another. This anime is just spectacular.
meonlyme-16 Don't be fooled by the score of 7.8 score its a 10 but i gave it a 9 cuz it has a lot of nudity plot is great actually very very unique i mean if your sick of a regular hero who just wants to save everyone and will find the love of his life but is not a pervert well this one is all that but a huge pervert but it doesn't disturb the show no sir its a part of the show and he uses this thing to his advantage its great for every guy is ecchi and harem made for guys so watch it its plots different and this is a non spoiler comment so just watch 3 episodes and u will get addicted to the show the main character is like every males hidden version that every one keeps hidden inside actually he is the extreme version of that and his actions and his power both are amazing this show has power action planing romance friendship teamwork and trust in one's abilities and oppai ie boobies he he he that's a joke well its great for every one who wants a change of anime atmosphere and hero character
jonske94 Don't be fooled by the "low" score of 7. This anime is thoroughly enjoyable but there are a few things that come off as awkward and less than good and they are mostly just my opinions. I'll put the more compact review in the beginning so you can decide if you want to read the rest or not.So 7/10 for the next reasons:The good: Humor and Action. The Plot is starting to get interesting at the end of season 2. The few well/a bit developed and/or interesting characters. The second season was a big improvement despite its focus on a slightly underwhelming couple. The bad: The ratio between the developed/interesting characters and the forgettable one-note characters isn't that good. Lack of a good over-arching plot in the beginning. The amount of fan service might be too much for some people... It's really a lot.The show tells a story of a young pervert who is reborn as a devil into a "family" that consists mostly of women with impractically big boobs considering that they should be able to fight. Then the show starts to introduce the main character and the audience into the weirdly non-violent world of devils. After reading about the show on a few websites, I came into the world of Highschool DxD expecting a fun and pervy action anime. It's all that for the majority of the first season. The humor is immature but I think everyone benefits from occasional immaturity. Its humor mostly consists of the main character's borderline creepy attitude towards every woman he comes in contact with. Not to mention his Dress Break ability which is literally just what it sounds like. The ability to break clothes by touch. The action is alright, nothing too huge and nothing too small. You won't be disappointed but you won't be impressed either. But then the show did something that I really didn't expect it to do (which in retrospect was unavoidable and I can't believe I didn't expect it). The show veered off from the path where the main character is just there to perv out and build his harem. It started to delve into romance. Which isn't bad usually but I can't help but feel that this show doesn't handle the romance particularly well. The "main" (which is hard to say considering that the "ship tease" is as rampant as the fan service) romance is between the main character and arguably the least developed woman of the main group, the President of the Occult club. It's hard to invest in those two. This is my main problem with the show as a whole. Character development. So far, only a handful of characters are developed far enough for you to actually care about their romances or lives outside of the group which makes me think it was a mistake to introduce romances before properly building the characters first. The second season did take steps towards better character development so even this small criticism might not be valid in the next season which I will watch. The plot is starting to get interesting... At the end of season 2. I'd say that about 18 episodes out of 24 are basically there to amuse you with fan service, humor and action and introduce you to a few new characters while the rest are the ones where you get the feeling of a possible overarching, interesting story.
twinshk2 This is a really hard show to explain. On one hand, it is completely ridiculous with the fan service. The outro and intros to the commercials are literally just naked pictures of the heroines. On the other hand, there are some really exciting moments where you can really sympathize with the MC. You'd have to watch the show to actually experience it, and even though I usually have horrible second-hand embarrassment which this show should have triggered, I didn't really feel it. It takes itself completely seriously at times, and at others, it devolves into a oppai fueled mess(but still amazing though). It's quite hard to describe it really, other than this anime is all over the place and is a great ride through all of it. Only complaint is they should have gotten some better artists(Oreimo& Date a Live animators, I'm looking at you).
