***SPOILERS*** That's what I said, folks. There ain't NO Bo here, just regular looking people doing their regular jobs of trying to clean up the mess that us get ourselves into. Not that I'm sympathetic to the criminals they try to catch. They're human too, just not the kind of human any of us want around because they kill people. THIS is where Joe Kenda, and the police force he served on come in. There episodes show - as well as possible - how difficult it can be to find, and stop these killers before they kill again, and the way it takes away from their family life. Joe himself does the telling of these stories, and his matter-of-fact presentation leaves him at the top of the Cop Show heap. Right along with "The First 48", this program will take you through what it typically takes to handle the normal operations of a Robbery-Homicide division, and how they interact with other divisions within their departments. Yup, that's right. This show always gives credit where it is due. To the Uniform Cops, as well. This is one of the best ever made, and I must recommend it to those who are (as I am) sick of the preening pretties who populate network "police shows". This one's a 10+.

Look, this show USB great for the first season. He dazzled you with his orality and his neat perfect memory. He's smart, unlike most detectives you see on other shows, or even in movies. But by the time you get through season 2, the trick gets old and the cases are pretty stale. After all, most of his cases involve detective manipulation and interrogation of murderers who don't ask for lawyers, and so forensics isn't used much. If you want interesting cases, watch Forensic Files. These are run of the mill. Eventually through it becomes a bit disgusting to watch: Joe Kenda has a hard-on for putting kiddies in jail for long sentences, often in solitary confinement ('for their own safety'-well fuck, if you can't afford a prison that takes care of its youth, they shouldn't be sent to prison). The state attorney or whoever was hard on youth crime at the time, but Kenda shows no critical thinking abilities (intelligence for a detective can only go so far) and no remorse. It's disgusting, he's disgusting, I'm done with this show.

I love Joe Kenda, in a way, although I'm British he reminds me of my father, also Joe. He was a police inspector & his steely professional gaze, like that of Kenda belied a very kind hearted generous man.I enjoy the intercourse between the real Joe and actor Joe. Mr Kenda's knowledge of guns, velocity are carefully explained, as are blood splatter, knife wounds etc.Really great character & great show. Long may it run

I absolutely love this show. I enjoy Lt. Kenda's commentary throughout each episode. He's smart, sometimes smart-assed, he's funny and my, my, my is he brilliant! I like the format they present the show in using actors, while Kenda imparts his wisdom as it was at the time of the crime. I look forward to each episodes and since I didn't watch from the beginning, I get to see "new to me" episodes as well. I've even watched episodes more than once because I like him so much. And it doesn't hurt that Carl Marino is very pleasing to the eyes. I would like to see him move on to more success because he really is a good actor. Anyway, if you've never watched it, and you enjoy this type of documentary style show, then give Lt. Kenda a chance. He's the man!!
