What do Barney, Dora The Explorer, and Teletubbies all have in common? They're insultingly bad. One show, however and it's a mostly forgotten one; Maya and Miguel is so laughably bad that it could even be shown on MST3K/RiffTrax. Think of this as the slightly more bearable version of Dora The Explorer. Still, M&M wasn't a great show, but it wasn't a pile of dreck like Barney or Dora. It's a nice show to watch, to only make fun of it. This show no longer airs on PBS Kids and it hasn't since 2012 but if you want to riff this MST3K-style, go ahead. At least this isn't "Dora The Explorer" levels of bad, just "So bad it's laughably bad". At least the twins look okay for 10-year old Latino/Latina kids.

Once you've seen one episode "Maya & Miguel", you've seen them all. Maya goes overboard and Miguel has to fish her out of whatever mess she's gotten herself (and others) into. However, there a few episodes that show that the show may have potential if they would ditch that stupid bird. I've never seen a children's show turn to their pet as much as they've turned to this annoying bird. I actually believe their character's may have enough to hold the show on their own if the writers would just let them. Also I know the show is called "Maya & Miguel", but why not let their friends have the spotlight a little more often? "Arthur" has many episodes that don't even star him, and his friends have proved to be just as interesting (or even more so then) as him. I will not give this show a completely awful rating cause I do believe that they could actually produce a good episode if they thought outside the box.

This is a great show for kids! Heck, I even enjoy it once in a while, and I am an adult! It teaches children introductory Spanish, while also providing a fun story! Maya's crazy ideas always get her into trouble, and her twin, Miguel, while reluctant, is always there beside her helping. But no matter what trouble Maya gets herself into, her heart is always in the right place. She just wants to help people! I'd say the only bad thing about this show is Paco, their annoying talking parrot. This is a fun and harmless show, and I recommend it to anyone with kids. It's educational and entertaining! I'd say it targets an audience from the ages of 6-11. It's kind of the next step from "Dora the explorer." "Maya and Miguel" is great at teaching common Spanish, and I can honestly say I have learned more Spanish from it than I did from my Jr. high Spanish teacher (but too be fair, he didn't really teach us much).

I watched about one episode and got bored! I thought "Hmmm, who would watch that? What's the target audience?". It looked cheaply made and has the most annoying theme song ever!!!! Beside all that, the characters are lame, the stories are as boring as hell and jokes are copied from other shows. I have just worked out the idea of it, it is trying to promote multiculturalism because the characters look like they're from Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil or Portugal or somewhere like that. They supposed to speak Spanish. Here is a news flash: I hardly speak any Spanish (French is what I'm good at!) and I can easily watch a day in the life of a Spaniard video other than this. If you want to make a programme aiming to promote multi-culture, try making it a bit more entertaining! It just far too educational, dull and dreary! Anyhow, I feel quite sorry for the production team behind the garbage; this must be a total career killer for them. This show is just another complete and utter television channel switchover. This is my final verdict for this show: "Cette Nulle", that's French for "This sucks!" 3/10
