Synopsis

Noel's House Party is a BBC television light entertainment show hosted by Noel Edmonds that was broadcast live on Saturday evenings throughout the 1990s. It was set in a large house in the fictional village of Crinkley Bottom, leading to much innuendo. The show was broadcast during the autumn-spring season. It was the successor show to Noel's Saturday Roadshow, and carried over some of its regular features such as the Gunge Tank, the Gotcha Oscar and Wait 'Till I Get You Home. In 2010, Noel's House Party was voted the best Saturday night TV show of all time. The show had many regular guests posing as fictional villagers, including Frank Thornton and Vicki Michelle. The show gave birth to Mr. Blobby in the Gotcha segment. The character became well known, ruining the premise of the segment, but Blobby still made appearances. There was also a contrived rivalry between Noel and Tony Blackburn. In addition, many episodes featured one-off guest stars, including Michael Crawford as Frank Spencer, who came in to find the whole audience dressed as Frank after Fantastic Stuart Henderson from Troon had performed as Frank singing The Beatles song "I Saw Her Standing There", and Ken Dodd in a highwayman's outfit - 'Going cheap at the Maxwell sale' - as Noel's long lost 'twin', Berasent.

Izak86 Noel's House Party was probably the best entertainment show of 1990's and hasn't been bettered since. The show ran from Autumn through to Spring and was full of just "FUN" from the Gotchas to the celebrity guests and of course who could forget the gunging.I still miss the show after 8 years of being off air and when I look at Saturday Night TV shows today, they are ALL reality shows such as "X Factor" and "Strictly Come Dancing" which I feel have been flogged to the death now and people take them far too seriously. With Noel's House Party you could sit down and have a good laugh without the need to phone in and vote like so many Saturday shows nowadays want you to do."Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway" has done a good job of recreating some of the entertainment from Noel's House Party but hasn't quite got the same atmosphere.
words_like_violence_brea COME BACK NOEL!!!The one thing in this entire universe where I generally feel that something is missing on Saturday nights.......'Noels House Party'. WHAT a show!Noel Edmunds is a genius, he has the natural gift to entertain thousands of people. Since his departure from crinkly bottom, the likes of Mr Blobby has disappeared also! Where did he go?What really gets up my snout is things like Bob the bloody Builder, copying the Blobster with releasing a song, Nobody, I mean nobody was cooler than Mr blobby so trying to follow in his footsteps just ain't happening. Blobby was original, funny and cool!Noel really has made a good come back to our British screens with 'Deal or no Deal', but nothing compares to 'Noels house party'P.S As Noel Edmunds is tiny I think He was probably bullied into presenting 'Deal or no Deal' SOMEONE SHOULD SAVE HIM
Dan_Sadler_1987 I believe that this was the best Saturday night entertainment that the BBC has ever had, who cant forget the classic Gotchas that took place, mr blobby, SOFA SOCCER and many more amusing games and incidents but the best had to be NTV!! I think that the BBC should strongly consider bringing this show back the National Lottery Jet Set does nothing for anyone Aamon Holmes is a morning television presenter not Saturday night t.v!!! The New York special that Noel did was pure class! When people say the format didn't work it shocks me if the format didn't work then it wouldn't have got 15 million viewers every week and it wouldn't have lasted 8 years with many comic relief and children in need specials and also the afore mentioned New York special!
patrick3201 Please make the pain go away.I'd rather have my leg gnawed off by a herd of depraved yaks being driven slowly mad through cranial injections of battery acid than sit through another 'hilarious' alleged celebrity having a bowl of custard poured on their head. The format was vaguely amusing for 6 episodes, but they carried on with this tat for eight long years.Noel Edmonds literally built a theme park based around this series, but a euthanasia clinic would seem more appropriate.
