Gary K Foote Formula approach - kind of 70's in overall presentation, but...Acting WILL get better as they settle in. Character development is incomplete. The plot is wide open for future episodes.Special effects are better than average TV fare in places, while in others they were completely 'shot around' using reaction shots.Formats seemed to switch from film to video and back in places. It promises to be interesting and hints that it will grow in presentation.I would watch at least another episode.
toelawlor Starts well but soon deteriorates into pretty nonsensical stuff. The lead actress, Gigi(Louise Monot/French girl) is very wooden and Andrew Howard's foulmouthed supposedly Dublin accent borders on the pantomime. The plot is also badly written, none of the eight give any real consideration to security even having already been told the police have lost control of events and then having been attacked by a mob they still behave like they were on their hols. The coup de grace however is despite being chased by gun toting murderers the Gigi's main concern is that she needs to return to the house to get her phone, a phone that's dead, no power, in a situation where there is no power and no possibility of charging the phone, really silly, and this panic over the phone is forgotten as quickly as way thought up. Then at the end D.Love blasts the demon with the shotgun, good move, but when the demon is coming back to life and preparing to do the funniest runner I've seen in a long time D.Love does not blast him a few more times in the head even though he has the shotgun pointed at him. I will in all likelihood base my final decision on whether to watch any more of this on the next few episodes if they are ever made and if they develop the plot in a more convincing fashion but for now it's a thumbs down.
realitycomments It felt like I was watching something filmed in the 70's ... kind of cheesy, but I must admit it had its elements of humor. Kind of cultishy.I couldn't take my eyes away. The usually group of humans stuck together ... the hot head, the macho w/the big heart, the snob, the mom, the old crazy lady... except the writers do seem to do good with the characters by showing their various sides in just one pilot.I love the old lady who was so annoying at first, but funny. Then all of a sudden at the end of the episode another element comes into play. And that was ... no spoiler here ... but I will say it was the ultimate wtf.It you like bizarre, dark comedy (though I'm not sure the comedy is always intentional or not) and like the crazy irritating group of humans trapped together who are all from different backgrounds type stories, you may like this.It moved fast and kept my attention.I don't think the story takes itself too seriously, which make it fun in the horror/thriller/sci-fi/weird/cult classic genre.
mallardsnest The show had great potential, unfortunately they did a horrible job. In the main group of survivors they have - a hooker, an black escaped prisoner(innocent of all charges of course), an Hispanic female cop, a lawyer, an actress (a terrible one at that), a rich old white woman, an abusive alcoholic Irish man, and to top it off, a gay clown.Of course they bicker amongst themselves constantly, much like Walking Dead. I'm not quite sure why all writers think that the end of the world scenarios will bring out the worst in people. Maybe they should start from scratch with a bit more imagination. The actors could've phoned it in, they did such a bad job.
