In the last two decades, he's made a list of criminals and terrorists that matter the most but the FBI cannot find because it does not know they exist. Reddington calls this "The Blacklist". allankaaber Normally I don't watch series with new crimes to solve in every episode. Series like CSI, Numbers and so on tends to bore me. But this one caught my attention. It has a good background story, the acting is good and the dialogues are brilliant, James Spader is awesome! But after 5 seasons with lots of plottwists and not knowing who Raymond Reddington is, I must say I'm pretty tired of the chase for the truth..In my opinion the lenght of this series is to exaggerated! The team helps Reddington to take out some of the worst criminals in the world, but it seems way to easy to catch the masterminds in opinion. The Blacklist is creative and good entertainment, but nothing more.
caramia2002 I found this on Netflix and the reviews were fairly good, although it was plain that Spader was carrying this one and many of the plot lines were fantastical. But in the first 5 minutes I watched, it was clear that the acting and writing were less than network (ABC, NBC, CBS) average. Wooden and cliche writing. The beauty of Spader, in his youth, was that he looked like a sweet, cute, harmless geek...until...he opened his mouth. He could smirk and talk creepy amazing and original performance after performance. But now that he is bald, with a generic face (IS that even him?), his trademark personality falls flat (IS that even him?). Or was it this stinker of a script and that fact that he is phoning it in? I can't say that I have much patience, with a very few exceptions, with network series, but even so, this is just another of the least common denominator network shows which pander to the "newspaper" crowd (it it said that newspapers are written for a 4th grade reading level, or something like that).
princeofsirsia What an interesting show!!!! .The show is about a most wanted criminal Raymond Raddington who surrenders to FBI and comes to terms to help them catch the most notorious criminals of the world for immunity. He also only wants to work with Elizabeth Keen with her he thinks that both would make a 'great team'. James Spader nails the character of Raymond Raddington. Megan Boon also justifies her role as Elizabeth. Kiefer Sutherland was offered the role of Raddington but Spader took over the role just three days before the shooting of show and I am very glad that he accepted the role. After watching the pilot his portrayal of Raddington's character reminded me of Dr. Hannibal lactor's character from silence of the lambs.
francesredmond I've watched as far as season 4 and I can't take any more. Seasons 1 -3 are very good, and can even overcome Megan Boone's acting skills. The finale of season 3 and then season 4 however, is excessively violent. Reddington shoots everyone who stands in his way, Agent Keen doesn't care who gets killed, because every 5 minutes she's shouting at Reddington - "Are you my father"?. So many people die it is sickening to watch. An innocent church organist dies at Elizabeth's wedding and nobody blinks, yet Elizabeth dies and suddenly everyone is grief stricken. The violence just escalates in season 4, it isn't smart or well done, just gratuitous, and suddenly the Post Office team are Red's private army. The Blacklist has lost it's way. The other question I have is why Red doesn't love and protect the daughter he had with Naomi, why doesn't he obsess over her, the way he does with Elizabeth. James Spader carries this series, but it's time to stop. The writing is thin, the FBI are puppets, not an actual task force any more and Red shoots almost every Blacklister he can get his hands on, so what is the point?
