thevannaicker Look its not the best of the best but the 3 masks are trying their best here keeping the entertainers interested. There has not been many around the world special adventures accept episode 11 in season 2 which was okay but cut and edited alot.If the team can film the same in top gear when they did their world trips special editions then the grand tour will be climbing higher up on the charts.Get rid of conversation street very boring, rather do more filming with cars or show us places.Other than that is is a great show which has started out and hoping it will be on for good couple decades to come. Amazon do not let the people down.SA supporter....
v-tepavicharov First of all, I would like to state I am (was) a huge fan of Top Gear when it was on BBC. Also, this is my first review on IMDB after being an user for around 10 years. Now, let's get going. I can easily summarize The "Grand" Tour - a very disrespectful, insensitive and ignorant show. What once was a very respectable show about cars, now is a joke. The first season - in absolutely every episode they laughed at various things, showing how mighty and powerful are the British people. If anything is "lesser" or weaker they would make everything and anything possible to showcase it. They also had guests (mostly British peeps not known to the vast majority of viewers) but thank God we could skip those moments filled with fake laughs and daft humour. All in all, I would not watch season one again. The second season - what started with a glimmer of hope that the old style programme that made the three stooges famous was making a return was false and quickly doused in merely 11 episodes time. They managed to prove that that the old saying about a wolf changing his coat but not disposition is still true to this day and age. This is merely a show about kids' jokes and pointless tests making fun of anything (everything) that they don't like. If you make up your mind based off of this show then you surely must drive an old British made car with 5+ litre engine. Oh, did I mention they tried to be politically correct for once - getting a female test driver who never gets a name or the chance to speak apart from muttering out "right" or "let's go".I am truly disappointed and shocked what modern media has come down to. To me, personally, this show is a massive let down and I would think twice or even thrice about watching another episode after they made sure to make fun of people living in Mozambique. That triggered me to write this review and stop watching them. Everyone makes their own mind and chooses what to watch and not but mine is made up. Verdict - 4/10 due to the first few episodes of season two.
samhaden As much as I wish to enjoy The Grand Tour, I simply can't. I watched season one and got four episodes into the new season before I called it a day. The reality is that there are enjoyable moments. The filming is spectacular and the cars are superb, of course; but - call me reactionary - it doesn't feel natural like it did in Top Gear. They're presenters, not actors, which means that the blatantly scripted parts make me cringe hard - Richard's main response seems to be excessive smiling which is like watching an unpopular kid finally getting attention and not knowing what to do. They've all been on TV for years, what are they doing?! Thankfully they got rid of the terrible celebrity section from the first season, though it should have been cut out completely: it's out of place and is frankly boring. I have nothing against aging celebrities remaining on TV, unless they hold their respective show back. Unfortunately I do feel like once three-reckless-men are showing their age in unattractive ways: such as James' lack of compassion when Richard was temporarily disabled (this did make me uncomfortable as a relative of someone physically disabled) and the borderline misogynism when the replacement of 'The American' was introduced as "her".I have rated it a six because it deserves respect for the effort put into the filming etc. It really is stunning to watch. Unfortunately - I really mean that - it is the presenters who are holding me back from enjoying the show.
blackrivercz You almost won't notice that the show has changed in the second season. No killing stars, back to some (for me) unknown guys driving cars. Oh, and there is much more money in it, which is also nice.Just one thing. Get rid of the driver woman. If they got rid of the American for not being very funny (and justly so), then I have no idea what she is doing there. She said like two words in the entire show.
