Reviews

Marc Thibeault I thought this was a very funny show and Jon Dore is a very funny host or actor in it. Even if you think his show goes too far with some of his comedy at least you have to admit this show is very unique.
pea_tear_griffin2 Finally the comedy network has something to be proud of. I often saw this show advertised but never watched it until about a month ago. Now every time it is on I can't help but watch it.The show is extremely funny and very well done. Jon Dore does a great job of playing himself, or should I say an alternative universe himself. The show always follows Jon and how he over comes his problems. He also interviews people on the subject the episode is about. As of now I've seen about 6 or so episodes of the show, and each one has been just as funny as the last. Keep up the great work Jon and crew.Ps. What makes this even better is that the show is made in Canada.
zerobeat Dore has excellent deadpan delivery and has created a wonderfully self-aware show. It's a kind of faux documentary that centres around a fictionalized (but how much?) version of Dore. Each show takes on a topic that Dore fixates on (quitting smoking, getting in shape, attracting a woman, accessibility for disabled people, infertility, getting over a fear of bats etc)The overall format of this show is unlike anything I've ever seen. The interview portions might remind me a little of D'Ali G show, but in Dore's case, it's almost irrelevant if the interviewee knows it's for a comedy show (and certainly, it's clear that some really do know). At first I wondered why I found this show so "familiar" in tone. Then after a few episodes I looked him up online and discovered that he's from Ottawa, Canada and then moved to Toronto, Canada (same with me). So I'm thinking that a foreigner might see this show in a much stranger light that I'm seeing! Cool.
trevorcroft I watched my first Jon Dore episode tonight, it was episode #6, Fit, and it was hilarious. My girlfriend and I were laughing out loud for the majority of the show.He interviews a variety of different people in his quest to become physically fit and I wasn't sure if the interviews were scripted or not, but either way it was comedic gold.If the interviews were unscripted Jon Dore is quick witted with perfect delivery. If the interviews were scripted he plays the part flawlessly. There are parts of the show that are definitely scripted, and I found those well written and the acting was good enough to make me laugh. For a Canadian produced television show it came across quite polished, I will definitely be looking to watch the other episodes.
