I wanted to like James, I really did. But his replacement of veteran talk show host Craig Ferguson is absolutely the wrong choice.Craig Ferguson mopped the floor with James Corden simply by doing what he does best on a talk show which is... talking!Even with all the bells and whistles that Corden has put out into the show including Carpool Karaoke (which I personally hate, but people seem to love) Corden has simply not been able to make the show engaging. Segments such as "Tonight I learned" and "None of the Above" are just absolutely stupid and a complete waste of air time. He tries to engage with the audience but falls flat on his wit. I am shocked that he even has an audience that sits in those chairs and watches him.He has ZERO rapport with his guests, does not know how to carry a conversation and he seems to think he's on a show which is a mix of American Idol and Britain's Got Talent. It is now 2018 and the show isn't getting any better. In fact, a lot of his segments seem to be rip offs of other late night show hosts. In particular, Jimmy Fallon. It seems like he's trying to hard to put the cool factor into his show. Even his sidekick/band leader, Reggie Watts can be annoying at times and I happen to be a fan of his. It's time to put this cow out to pasture. CBS. Cut your losses and wrap it up.
William Corden... read 'em and weep
Truly a mistake in the cosmos of things. How did this talentless porker get so far in a business that chews 'em up like dog bones? I've tried to give him a chance but honestly it's like watching one of those rap videos or watching Beyonce put together one of those aimless, pointless dance routines... ten seconds is too much by far. And so it is with watching this bingo caller at the Saturday Night Legion session, five seconds is too much in his case. Those who stay up late must be pretty desperate for entertainment if they watch this visual porridge, but the ratings calculators say there are plenty of them so what do I know? I'll tell you what I DO know , it's just sawdust to fill in the gaps between ads, pure organic "no sweetener added" crap. Which means he'll probably last for quite a bit longer. Not in my house though , karaoke has been banned since it first ever came out!

I find this show a breath of fresh air. It's the best show on late night. I'm quite happy that CBS had the chance to follow on from Craig with another unique, intelligent and unpredictable host and that they didn't go in the direction of dumbed down TV like Jimmy Kimmel. The shows set up is that of and older British style where instead of interviewing one guest at a time, they all sit at the couch together and its a more interesting, fun discussion. James Corden is great at keeping everyone in the conversation and not leaving anyone out and sliding from one topic to the next. He's not a traditional stand up comedian so monologues aren't his thing, but he's perfectly fine at it.The houseband is great! I wish Colberts house band gelled with him like Corden's band does. The band leader is not only a talented musician but hilarious too! CARPOOL KARAOKE ANYONE! Let's face it, James Corden is great and would be a fun person who to sit at a dinner table with and just chat, which makes him the perfect television host, that you can tune in and feel like your apart of that conversation. He seems like he is just being himself and caring about the show and his guests.I love the going randomly up to people houses and asking if he can film his show there. It's just so random, and just enough of that awkward feeling that can make things absurdly funny and weirdly hilarious on accident, it just works so well. It's really quite an intelligent show. Corden is a sweet guy and all his talk about men's physique makes me thinking of Chris Farley who also used his body image in a fun comedic way.The only thing similar between Craig Ferguson And James Corden might be those UK accents, but that's about it. Ferguson was becoming unbearable with all his negative, immature, potty mouth behavior. Not funny. Not witty. Not watchable. The show was a major disappointment.I do feel bad for all the Craig Ferguson fans that are now James Corden haters and apparently all the negative reviewers on this site. Face it Ferguson wanted to leave CBS and CBS was happy to go in a different direction. They wanted to change things up and they sure did in big, wonderful way. I feel sorry for Ferguson and the his lost talent. I understand why he quit, but honestly, he just wouldn't have fit in the millenial trending late night entertainment slot.

This is just a really entertaining and funny show. James is always so upbeat and positive even when he's being negative. It's the only show left on television where the host and the band leader actually have a chemistry which works. Letterman and Paul Shaffer had a good chemistry and it made the late show entertaining and thats exactly the effect it has here. The same can't be said for the late show with Stephen Colbert who has a negative value of chemistry with his band guy who isn't even funny at all to be frank. I actually think James and Reggie should have the late show and Colbert should have the late late show. The show has a great format from the ad-lib intro music and then the short monologue followed by a brief glimpse of the guests while they're still in their dressing rooms and it all just keeps a smile on your face. The guests always look like they're having such a good time which makes it all the more watchable.I would go as far as to say this is on par with Conan which is the only other good late variety show.
