Reviews

zakariyyahzakiyyah Usually IMDb recommends shows based on what you are viewing, few weeks ago I was lured to see this show, so I went and bought the four seasons. the first season is acceptable, but after the last episode of the first season, all the following episodes did not offer any new ideas they were just ruminations of exhausted ideas. the actors have very poor talent and the writers always try to find some fantastic unbelievable unrealistic ideas and try just to paste them together in order to fill a 42 minutes gap. and every now and then they need to kill off somebody in order to keep the plot alive. and the silliest part was the mutilation of Christmas in the title of an episode of every season, I mean in the first season it was nice, it looked like some one was trying to invent something, but in three following seasons it was like "please catch on, please adopt this word" they would better paying off the viewers to get their attention to this silly simplistic un original word play. Just an advice don't waste your money or your time on this empty pasted up performances.
ComedyFan2010 I started this show with not very high expectations and must say the first few episodes just made me cringe. I found it unrealistic, cliché and it involved some bad acting from the younger actors. But it rapidly gained on quality and the story lines just sucked me in. The show has both good and bad times. It went down in the season three and the beginning of season 4 made me think that it will turn into garbage. But once again they gained on the entertainment and I felt sad at the end saying good bye to the characters I now loved. And I must say I didn't always love them. Some characters, like the main one Ryan, I had a love/hate attitude towards. Mostly love, but there were times when I wished somebody would kick his ass and though he was annoying. Then there was Summer. Oh man, did I not like her in the first seasons! But her character went through some great development as at the end I loved the girl. And there were characters that I always cared about. Julie, a bit of a villain but the one that one just can't dislike. A strong, beautiful woman who can manipulate everyone and yet has a kind heart. And Sandy! Isn't he the kind of dad many would wish they had? And Seth, one of the best characters on the show. He makes us laugh and we love him.The show is a sort of a soap opera with concentration on teens. But the adults also play a huge role in this one, which makes it even more entertaining as I haven't been a teen for a long time. And it manages to keep the viewer watching with fun stories and with characters we love.
andrei-belous First season was brilliant, everything was too good actors, relationships, filming locations, cars, humor.... Marissa and Ryan, Summer and Seth, Sandy and Kirsten this relationships was one of highlights of this show, and this formula can stay this way, all of the seasons, but... After first season, second was a big disappoint, Ryan and Marissa don't revive his relation, and suddenly appears new cast (Lindsay, Alex, D.J. and dude(new friend of Summer)). - Alex - Olivia Wilde - she is hot, but her outfit and hair is awful - bad - DJ - whatever - Mexican guy, typical immigrant charity case, with muscles - bad - dude(new friend of Summer) - whatever - OK actor, but boring role - boring - Lindsay - Shannon Lucio - ugly girl (in compare with Misha Barton) with squeaky voice. There is no any chance, that any straight guy would change hot Marrisa Cooper with this banal redhead girl, so this story line is simple suck. The Bait Shop and his awkward concerts with no name band's (except The Killers), made too boring season two. So: First season - Brilliant Second season - BAD - because was broken crucial relationships for this show, and this was first step to death of this show(people start to get bored), show start to be more drama than comedy. If Ryan and Marissa where kept together in second season show will continue to be very popular (like Smallville did), but to add new ugly partner(most like Linsay) to our basic characters, was the death sentence to show, made by Josh Schwartz.
reneweddan Although I used to watch this show when it was aired as fresh talent on television, I haven't been writing reviews for too long. After watching Southland with Ben McKenzie, I was reminded of how excellent this series was and still is. Alongside Adam Brody, Ben McKenzie were the driving force to the success of The OC. Their acting is full of talent and although some acting from the other cast members could've been better, the show achieves its goal and receives my attention. I'm glad to see Ben McKenzie and Adam Brody have advanced their careers.Sometimes the episodes might seem bland, or the drama too unrealistic, but that's what I enjoy. I don't need a show to always captivate me with every dramatic situation, or to be too realistic as if I were watching a reality television show. Variety is key and The OC definitely deserves my praises.Excellent show for leisure viewing, not to be taken too series, but rather to be enjoyed for what it is.
