Finally a medical drama that is along the lines of House with unlikable characters that are brutally honest and brilliant, acting that shows the caliber of the cast, and what it has that House didn't is a realistic view of American modern medicine. As someone who watched their mother battle cancer off and on for 14 years I really like how this show portrays quality/quantity, bottom-line mentality, and how the patient does not always come first if the paperwork doesn't pan out. It's horrible to think about, but heartbreakingly true. I too have an insurance that makes me hope and pray I never have to go to the hospital, but if I did, I'd wish for Dr. Conrad Hawkins and Nurse Nic Nevin.

Remarkably accurate portrayal of medical practice world wide. The corrupt practices that protect the profession ahead of patient care & it's focus on maximising income underlies the whole profession. If anything this portrays too many doctors working towards standards of practice, sadly the younger doctors are more likely to be compliant & ignore unethical (if not outright illegal) practices. The heirarchical basis of the apprenticeship system which is the basis of medical education promotes compliance & unthinking/unquestioning acceptance & conformity to an old institution which has outlived its day. Very nice to see a Nurse Practitioner as a main character - she mentioned her Standards of Practice in an episode & gave an amazinly beautiful & accurate account of what being a nurse means. I would vote this show 15/10 if I could. 'Way to go' for counteracting cultural conditioning so often expressed in medical programs - maybe show us more positice images of nurses & drop the 'doctors as heroes' crap - its a very well paid job not an heroic endeavour.

Kudos to everyone connected with this show. The Casting Director put together a super group of Actors. The Writers created great scripts and the show came alive each week with new and different storylines. Talent is a beautiful thing and your squad was magnificent. Each week, you could feel the maturation of the young Doctors. Very well done and next season looks amazing, with Conrad's Dad as Chairman! Watch out Dr. Bell, ha! Can't wait for season 2 in the Fall. Well done!
