elsiagoddess We used to watch this show nonstop! We've since had classic animated series like Family Guy and South Park and American Dad and so many more newer ones but nothing can beat the Simpsons.Everyone always says the earlier ones were better but I disagree there I kind of like it around 2000 and sometimes a bit later. I think every era has great episodes though. Even the new series I still like!
keelhaul-80856 I understand that this was one of the first cartoon shows that is made for adults and broke some ground for others, but I just don't see the amazing qualities and praise heaped on it. It is like saying that some monster film from the 1920s broke ground for future horror masterpieces. Only a couple of movie buffs care about the old silent film, and while I might watch it to understand early films, I wouldn't say it was greater and more entertaining than Texas Chainsaw or Exorcist. For some reason, everyone seems to feel indebted to the Simpsons as some great institution--however, I have simply hated and abhorred this show since my childhood, when it first started coming on. I have watched several episodes, or partial episodes off-and-on for years, and this show is about as boring and cheesy as it gets. I really don't get the appeal. I cannot BELIEVE THIS SHOW IS STILL ON TV IN PRIMETIME Sunday PROGRAMMING!!! Also, why is everyone yellow with pointy heads and crap? They all look like they have jaundice and deformities. Nothing about this show appeals to me. The characters are stupid and ugly. The messages are lame. The voices are annoying. The stories aren't nearly as hysterical and fast-paced like numerous other shows.King of the Hill, Family Guy, Beavis & Butthead, American Dad, Cleveland Show, South Park-- all of these are 100 times funnier and more interesting. The Simpsons is such a borefest, I usually can't even finish an entire episode without changing channels. Strangely, most people on IMDb that give all the other cartoon shows bad ratings, use this show as the standard and claim that the Simpsons is the champion of animation comedy. PUHHHLEASE! They must find stuff like colonoscopies and jury duty exciting.Plus, the show has been on for so many years, that it just doesn't even appeal to anyone now. When is the last time, seriously, that you have heard anyone at work or school laughing about something on the Simpsons??????? Uhh...I don't think I've ever heard anyone reference them for my entire life, and no one has ever asked me to sit down over beers and laugh at the Simpsons. Everyone is always laughing about South Park and Family Guy, because they are actually hilarious and outrageous. None of the Simpsons creator's shows are that funny, in reality. I think he just knows the right people or sucks the right people on the casting couch. His shows are lame and mediocre, but I guess some nerds still watch it.
rankaisia Since this is only about 20 minutes, it makes it perfect to watch and eat at the same time.I have been watching the series since it began when I was like 8 year old and I have to admit that I little scared the bullies from school in the show and didn't love it from the start. In the age of 20, my friend had the DVD collection box which he loaned to me. and said "Im not only one who borrowed" :) Especially great show, since I usually despise animations and comedy. One of my favorite episode was where homer wanted to be hippie and sitted in the kitchen table with dirty pancho :))
jackdickie In 1989, The Simpsons came into FULL existence with their first season ever and since then, through the 90's, We were introduced to Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson who were so god damn interesting! Each character we got introduced to were so interesting to see, Moe and Barney along with Karl and Lenny, Kent and Patty and Selma... UGH! I can't deny but say I loved each and every single character except for Marty. A fair few Simpsons Episodes were highly enjoyable and entertaining. I'm going to pick some of my personal favorite episodes which are... Summer of 4ft. 2, The Springfield files, Homerpalooza, "HOW 90's could you get with an episode like that!!!???!?!?!, they had the Smashing Pumpkins in for voice acting and Sonic youth along with cypress hill.... OH MY GOD!!!! If they did this episode any earlier around, 1992 or 1993, they would of been able to have Kurt Cobain in the episode... But, We can only dream..." ALSO DID YOU KNOW, Sonic Youth threatened not to be in the episode if Courtney Love was cast in it? Now you do. Homer the heretic, Homer the Moe, The Mysterious voyage of our Homer, Hurricane Neddy, Lisa's date with density, A Milhouse divided, And many more...I believe season 21 is where things started to feel more drained, they weren't that funny and I can only stumble across 1 or 2 episodes that I might like each season...I'm sorry but I just don't like season 21 and the other seasons that came after it...I just think they're getting desperate to stay irrelevant... I'm more of a fan of seasons 2 through 20 than I am season 21 and onwards. You see, I grew up watching the Simpsons; I would sit at the dinner table watching the Simpsons as it came on at 6pm every night on channel 10 here in Australia. Such good times! Classic episodes and wonderful memories! Each and every single time I watch these older episodes, I get a strong flow of Nostalgia! I highly recommend watching seasons 1 through 20, 9/10
