ameerhassansidd Never in the history of drama ever created a masterpiece such as this in the catagory of adventure and expedition. This started cold, deadly, eventfull and gripping with and ended colder, deadlier, eventfuller and mastering the grip.
Naive-fox Seldom does a show or a film with such an assuming title live up to it. But 'The terror' does indeed honor its name and set some solid baselines its counterpart wannabe horror productions would do well to follow. Because the real horror does not lie in the gore, the paranormal or a loud and strident music score. The terror, the real terror hides in the isolation, the uncertainty and the unpredictability of human nature. And not only does 'The terror' create a sense of hopelessness brilliantly, it does it through a masterfully crafted atmosphere, one of the best photography to be seen in any TV show in recent years and an ensemble cast that would put some blockbusters to shame. The actors do such a great job one can even overlook the occasional script flaws -to be expected in any show- out of pure interest in the characters' well-being.It's not easy to get into 'The terror', not a show for the ones looking for random violence or heart-stopping jumpscares. But for those looking for a more complex experience, one that does not treat the viewer as most horror flicks do, this show is a pleasant and rewarding journey with just the right amount of blood and mistery, and a generous serving of witty dialogue. A treat that we may not be offered again in the coming years in any suspense genre show.
John Citizen Way too slow, ponderous and boring. It's OK for viewers who like long scenes of boring dialogue but for those who like TV where something actually HAPPENS, then this show is tedious and boring. Best to watch it on fast forward so you can see what happens at the end
prhayhurst Once I started watch this, I thought, this is really well thought out, great acting and actors portraying characters of the time. Ok a bit slow, but building. Then, by around the last third of the show, I realised that it has what all shows and films of this day and age suffer from, RAMMING A MESSAGE DOWN OUR THROATS! Of course I carried on watching as I'd invested time watching the previous episodes, but especially the last episode just made me laugh. White British explorers are totally and absolutely evil and hateful, though the Natives are lovely accommodating people, never putting a foot wrong, making the captain question himself and his country and go native, yeah, right! Why can't these film or tv makers just make a realistic show? Ah yes, because it would offend far too many activists!! But I tell you what, if they did, the reviews would be great, because normal people don't get offended by ridiculous things, such as historical events portrayed correctly.
