The Couchpotatoes
For sure that I didn't laugh all the time with You, me and The Apocalypse, even though I was expecting that since it was described as humor on IMDb. But it didn't really matter to me because I was basically hooked on the show after the very first episode. After all who doesn't like an end-of-the-world scenario? You're immediately wondering how this will end and the only way to know is to watch it until the end. And that's what I did. I devoured the first season in a couple of days. I wonder if there will be a second season though. To me they could add one more season and I will gladly watch it. The different characters are a delight to watch. Almost every stereotype passes the revue. The story has enough good twists to keep you entertained all the time. Why people would hate this show is something I can't understand. I sometimes wonder what those people like themselves.

I've seen the first couple episodes of what seems to be a joint American-UK doomsday comedy. I was expected more along the lines of last year's hit, "The Last Man On Earth", and while it's quite a bit different from that show, I'm finding myself enthralled in this so far. It's not like TLMOE with it's constant humor; contains much more subtle comedy like a lot of British shows/films do. So is Rob Lowe doing two shows now-?? (along with "The Grinder")

The show follows a handful of group of people a few days before an announced apocalypse. The stories have ups and down and are a bit boring, except the "religious" one that I found intriguing.Overall the show was promising : the general idiocy and nonsense was bearable, resulting in a generally good entertainment. But they had to ruin it in a fated moment where criminal stupidity is used as a lever for the plot, several times in one episode (I'll explain in a paragraph). In summary this is not the worst I ever seen and if you have high resistance to unbelievable, weak, idiotic plots with their share of holes, you may still enjoy it.Spoiler about what I mean follows:It happens the day where the survival of humanity is put in the balance, just a few days before everyone is expected to die in case of failure. a cop basically tells one of the protagonist trying to save the world: "0K, I'll let you save the world but first you have to tell me where your criminal sister is" (the girl is basically a nobody). And puts him in jail when the guy does not talk. This is wrong on so many level : the general behavior of the characters, the priorities of everybody, the fact that important people for the future of the human species are not guarded 24/7 because anything could put said future in jeopardy (virus, car accident, food poisoning, stupid cops, maniac wanting to kill the last hope, ...)And the "geniuses" tasked to save the world are passing for clowns : only an idiot would measure time not only from a central clock but worse : in a unit affected by time savings. On another hand, something a bit like that has happened a few years ago. A rocket has been lost (self-destructed) because of units incompatibilities between parts of the machine (Imperial vs Metric).

Slightly perplexed by the last two reviewers (were they watching the same show as me?!), as far as I'm concerned, this is one of the best written shows on TV at the moment. The plot is great - twisting and turning with a fabulous blend of humour and drama. I quite literally don't know where it's going from week to week. Whilst it is first and foremost a comedy - there is enough tension in the plot to make you genuinely concerned for the various characters - some of which meet quite unpleasant endings... The curious blend of Slough and the apocalypse - who'd have thought that would work?!The acting is top notch - Rob Lowe perfectly cast. Matthew Baynton playing both parts with relish. There's not a week link in it. I will be truly sad when the show is over.My only complaint is that they really should have stuck with the original title: "Apocalypse Slough!". Genius.
