100 Girls tells the story of Matthew, a nerdy College student who has a sexual encounter in an elevator during a blackout and spends copious amounts of time trying to figure out her identity. What sets 100 Girls apart from other teen comedies is the dialogue- centric scenes which add a level of intelligence to the characters and also help move the story along. However, this also proves to be disadvantageous, as the film's characters fit every conceivable stereotype. Matt is the awkward nerd. His roommate Rod is a misogynistic dimwit who spends hours putting weights on his penis whilst degrading and depersonalizing women. Matt enlists the help of former high school acquaintance Wendy, the stereotypical cute girl next door. His and Rod's Women's Studies professor, Ms. Stern is hairy-arm-pitted man-hater. Patty is the hyper-sexual slut and her boyfriend Crick, the hyper- masculine sexual abuser. Dora is the "ugly" girl unaware of her beauty. Other characters include Cynthia, the blonde knockout and Arlene, the competitive "tomboy". Matt later attempts to dress in drag as Francesca and discovers that as such, he is able to communicate more effectively with women. This, in turn, bolsters his confidence and culminates in a speech in front of the girls dorm, where he realizes he can have any girl he wants. In summary, while this film tries to pass itself off as a critique of gender relations, it is in actuality a slightly more intelligent variant of the sex romp. If you enjoy unconventionality, this film is worth a watch.

If you want to watch a movie written for women who want to be with a beta male; but don't really want to. This film is for you. This movie is like watching a little skinny white kid crush his testicles in front of a room filled with rabid misandrists; over, and over, again. The main actor in the film does a surprisingly good job with his horribly written voice overs that drone on; but they use a lot of big words; so it's clever; right? All in all, the movie is visually and auditorilly bland like butter-less toast. It wishes it could be a good romantic comedy like the barrage of excellent films that came out in the 80s. If you haven't seen Better Off Dead yet; watch that instead.

Not a terribly great movie, but I'd honestly recommend it. Not because the story was great, it isn't. Not because the acting was fabulous. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't stellar. What the movie did have going for it was honesty and reality. I can clarify too much without giving the ending(s) away, but situations would come up and for a few minutes, it would progress just like any other movie, then they would backtrack, pointing out that life doesn't happen that way, then show it the way it really happens. There is dialog concerning real-life problems that movies generally don't acknowledge. It is billed as a comedy, and it was funny, but I enjoyed it for the subject matter. We'll all being talking about men vs. women till the end of time, most of us will never make it to a point of real understanding, but I appreciate when somebody (in this case the writer/director) gives it an honest attempt. If you are stuck without something to watch, consider this one.
