moonbus69 I love all the Pink Panther films that actor Peter Sellers starred in, as Inspector Clouseau. Of those, this has been my favorite film of all. It is funny in each and every scene... there is not one wasted minute in this movie! It is a real sad shame, that The Oscars do not give out many awards for Comedy films and actors. Being funny on camera is a rare gift and talent... and Peter Sellers had it in spades! He certainly showed a genius for looking completely natural, while being LOL funny at the same time... He was brilliant in Kubrick's "Doctor Strangelove", but in this film, Peter sellers soared to such hilarious heights as only he could fly! God Bless you, Mr. Sellers, wherever you are... and a very heartfelt "Thank-You!" (and another Thank-You! to director Blake Edwards, for this film, and also "The Great Race"). Lastly, to Ms. Elke Sommer - "You are so beautiful!" - now and forever!
Benedito Dias Rodrigues Peter Sellers already had best days as actor,in this series your character surfing in an kind of muddled inspector, everything he touches going to a disaster, some funny scenes, others not quite,Hebert Lom is priceless acting as your chief and Graham Stark in another hilarious character as Hercule LaJoy and without forget Elke Sommers was gorgeous than ever!!Just for Inspector Closeau's fans!! Resume: First watch: 2017 / How many: 1 / Source: DVD / Rating: 6
Eric Stevenson I saw the original Pink Panther movie and I liked it, but didn't think it was the masterpiece like a lot of people thought it was. Well, this is considered to be even better and I certainly agree! I'm not the biggest Inspector Closeau fan, but this was a lot of fun. It helps that we escalate the slapstick and everything just keeps on going. I guess the best part is that Closeau plays it straight. Well, he at least tries to play it straight. The other characters are much more intellectual and do a better job playing it straight. It's great to see him be confronted by everyone else. Can I just say that the opening animated credits were some of the best I've ever seen? I'm surprised they didn't have, well, the Pink Panther in them. It does get a little slow in the middle, but it all pays off in the end. I realize that I'm not much of a fan of murder mysteries, but what better way than to do a parody of them? Many people do consider this the best in the whole series and of the numerous I have seen, I agree with them. It helps that Peter Sellers as Closeau is so funny. I knew the name Kato was a shout out to the Green Hornet. ***1/2
SnoopyStyle When millionaire Ballon's Spanish driver is found shot dead, Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Peter Sellers) is assigned to the case to the regret of Commissioner Dreyfus (Herbert Lom). The maid Maria Gambrelli (Elke Sommer) is the assumed murderer but Clouseau believes the beauty's denial. He returns home to be attacked by his man-servant Kato (Burt Kwouk). It's the start of a beautiful on screen relationship. He releases Maria to follow her to the real killer, but she is found standing over the newly killed gardener with the murder weapon. He releases her once again. He follows her to a nudist camp where she finds another murder victim Dudu. Then the head butler Henri is also found dead. This one has the three essential icons of a Pink Panther movie for me. It's the sequel to the original Pink Panther and introduces Dreyfus and Kato (with a K in this one). The only essential that is missing is Pink Panther in the opening cartoon. Peter Sellers is getting better mastering the bumbling inspector. He gets some gigantic laughs. It is even better than the original. The only drawback is Elke Sommer. She's fine as the gorgeous blonde ice queen but not that great as a comedic actress. On the other hand, the police van is always funny every time they arrest Clouseau.
