optimuscrimek Want a mummy movie with literally nothing to do with the mummy, then this is the movie for you! the film moves at a tediously slow pace and the video and sound quality feel like a documentary, one that happened to be filmed on a budget of next to nothing. The acting is terrible, the script is terrible and the sound effects are laughably bad and at time I had to wonder if this was a horror comedy. The one saving grace is that the special effects involving the gore and zombie violence (Yes, there is more things to do with zombies than mummies)is pretty good.
Leofwine_draca American Mummy is a low budget indie horror film about a bunch of archaeologist students who discover an Aztec mummy residing inside a cave system in the desert. However, said mummy is possessed by the 'lord of the dead', a demonic entity that begins to possess each of the students in turn. After the initial set up it soon transpires that this is a straight forward EVIL DEAD copy featuring scenes of gruesome murder and dismemberment and demon-possessed victims hungry for living prey. It's a grisly story indeed, shockingly so in places, and fast paced with it. Despite the multiple shortcomings, this is much better than I was expecting it to be.
Michael Ledo Aztec mummy of Lord Tezcalipoca is discovered in the desert by some Monroe University students. One of them gets the idea to revive its spirit which enters people and turns them into ravenous zombie-like people.I was not enjoying the film and then toward the end I started thinking "so bad it is good" and "camp." There were scenes that were simply awful. We had a man perform a ceremony while wearing one white sock, a skirt, and a wife-beater shirt. At another time they are playing sad violin music while a woman is puking up green slime and her severed head is attempting to bite someone. Another man gets his arm cut off below the elbow, we then see him shortly later standing upright, acting normal missing his arm at the shoulder where it is bandaged with duct tape. A sacrifice is cut in the lower abdomen, about where the appendix would be and they pull out his beating heart.I think this film can be enjoyed on the "so bad it is good" level. I just realized it too late.Guide: F-word, sex, nudity (Erin Condry, Esther Canata + uncredited dancer)
Jeff Leach Even fast forwarding at 4x, this moving is really bad and I have seen a lot of crappy horror movies. The acting is terrible, there isn't enough naked to distract you and there is no script to speak of. The only saving grace is characters get killed fairly quickly so you don't have to suffer through their bad acting all that long.
