Mischief810 Don't expect a high budget, star-studded cast. This film is not that. It's a low budget, direct to disc release. As long as you're OK with that, and you are an action flick film as I am, this is entertaining enough to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon watching. The acting--outside of Lundgren--is not great. He's always good but the rest of the speaking cast come off as awkward at times, decent at times. Never quite awful, but never quite great. It's a B-movie. What do you expect? Golden Globe awards? The movie is reasonably fast paced. The action scenes are as fun as they are gory. But again, it's a Zombie Apocalypse plot so that's what you expect to see. It delivers on that regard.I saw one site billing this film as a sequel to Robotropolis, a movie so bad that I simply couldn't finish it. This, if it is a sequel, bears almost no resemblance to the poor effort displayed in Robotropolis.Overall, if you are a fan of Dolph, you like action and you like Zombie movies, this is enjoyable. Just don't expect too much.
GL84 After a devastating viral outbreak, a soldier is sent into a quarantined city to rescue the daughter of an important businessman and enlists the aid of an army of robots to stave off the advancing zombie hordes and complete his mission. This is a highly enjoyable and absolutely entertaining blast of a zombie/action film hybrid. Moreso than anything else in the film, the biggest factor at work here is the fact that the film is just as much of an action film as a horror one. The zombies are kept as a great threat throughout because there's so many of them in here, and that forces the survivors to have to find several ways of dealing with them safely as they're always around, so there's a ton of confrontations to come through with the group forced to deal with the swarm in here from the supermarket brawl to the chase through the ghettos and finally the assault on the compound which starts in the best part of the film, the last act with the reinforcements. Coming through in the form of armor-plated, machine-gun toting robots, the sight of the two sides, with the human-survivors and the army of robots taking on the snarling, massive horde of zombies is a frenetic sight that's made all the more fun by having a ton of screen-time to really take in the action spectacle that's presented and is really overwhelming. The horror scenarios come from the threat of the zombies themselves keeping a high course of screen-time that allows them to really be treated and feared quite logically, and that their look is quite enjoyable makes this even better. Follow up with a countdown clock that must be kept in mind and it does work quite well in that regard as well, though the action in this is clearly the more central part of the story. That really only leaves one small factor here that doesn't really work, which is the long amount of screen-time needed to convince everyone of the move and trying to get them to come along. Since these are spent in their compound not a lot happens here and it does have some rather long moments where it feels like it's just going in circles trying to get her to come along and refusing without going anywhere or getting anything accomplished, and this leads to a pretty boring middle section of the film in between all the fun action bits, but overall it's a lot more fun and enjoyable than anything else.Rated R: Graphic Violence and Language.
easywinn-915-835335 First off I have to admit I'm a huge Dolph fan, and I'm not going to lie to you, Dolph has disappointed me a lot with his recent movies. But not this movie, this movie is a testament to how awesome and epic the Dolph can be.Here is what your in for when you watch this movie Spin kicks, roundhouses, handcuff chokes, guns, zombies getting blasted, a dumb plot. Discard the plot, just whisk that out of your mind. Hell, you probably should just mute it and put some heavy metal on. That is what i did the second time I watched it. Lets be honest, you didn't rent this for a plot you rented it to watch Dolph karate a bunch of zombies to pieces and god does this movie ever deliver on the whole Dolph kicking zombies.... Seems like a horrible way to attack and kill zombies, and it would be if you were anyone but Dolph. I guess there's other actors in this movie, I have no idea who they are or what there story is every time they came on screen I just spaced out till Dolph came back on.So to recap you will love this movie if you don't care about things like dialog and plot, and instead care about important things like smashing a zombies head in with a well placed round spin kick.Seriously, watch this movie.
dworldeater Dolf Lundren is Major Gatling, an elite mercenary hired to rescue a wealthy industrialist's daughter in a city quarantined by a military blockade. The city is isolated because a deadly virus was unleashed and turned the population into rabid zombies(infecteds)similar to those seen in 28 Days Later. While Battle Of The Damned is not nearly as terrifying or as good as 28 Days Later, BOTD is much more survivalist action than horror and a good one at that. If you are only watching this film because you are a Dolf Lundren fan, you need not worry as there is tons of action in this flick. The tone is dark enough and taken seriously to please most horror fans that have seen lots of stuff like this before. Compared to much of what's out there in the zombie/horror genre the gore level is relatively low, but this action packed piece is well done and plenty entertaining.Dolf has great screen presence and he along with the rest of cast had no problem selling this science fiction nightmare with solid acting performances. Overall, Battle Of The Damned is a good low budget(not low quality) zombie/action film worth watching for fans of the genre. I also thought the robots that show up later are cool also.
