Harrison Tweed (Top Dawg) Sure there are added characters and the story is not accurate, but the premise is - the Bruce Lee & Wong Jack Man conflict. And even though the origin of this film has been adapted for a "Hollywood story", I still had difficulty getting past the poor acting. The fight choreography was decent though. A 7/10 from me
JustGotToSayIt This show caught me by surprise. Birth of the Dragon brings us back to the glory days of martial arts movies. A duel of two masters to determine not only who has the greatest style of kung fu, but also who possesses the true philosophy of the art and the way of life. Yes, it is based on real life events, but it is clearly highly dramatized for the audience (I don't think in real life, it was determined who really won that fight. It is still much debated) which really makes it fun to watch. Really had a great time watching this.
trueloverwestley A refreshingly plausible story that exposes Bruce Lee's notoriously obnoxious personality and how a humbling defeat at the hands of a humble master forced him to reassess himself. The script is cheesy in parts but the core story rings true.Bruce Lee was a bully. The script gets that right.
lojitsu Here's a Better Late than Never review of "Birth of the Dragon" (PG-13 - 2016 - US)...I will accept your challenge!!Genre: Action/Martial My Score: 5.3Cast=4 Acting=5 Plot=7 Ending=6 Story=3 Violent=7 Pace=5 F/X=6 Fights=6 History=4 Inspired by the legendary fight between Bruce Lee, an up and coming master in San Francisco...and Wong Jack Man, great Shaolin monk traveling to the city to workout his own issues."Your technique is impressive, but it has one limitation...you." I love all things Bruce Lee...and I was interested in this story that focused on this fight. The fight scenes were decent, but they could have been better. The biggest problem I had was they butchered the story to something akin to the old "save the girl" ploy. This was a big time letdown for me and no better then a meh...even if you are a martial arts movie fan.
