lois-lane33 I think that because television has become so clogged with commercials they have been churning out movies like this one by the truckload because there is now a huge market for DVDs to watch at home thanks to TV basically sucking the big one. This looks like a direct to disc movie release and its not got much going for it. I think the Pine Gap secret facility reference in the film is gratuitous since there actually is such a place and its a communications base in real life Australia. The rest of the film is some kind of a mixed bag of Resident Evil meets Alien in an unhappy marriage. Watch it if you are totally bored. It might keep your mind occupied for a time but chances are it will just make you feel frustrated. They should make better TV. If they did movies like this wouldn't even exist. Which would be a good thing.
ikeybabe This movie was pretty good. It had an original twist, which is a rare thing for movies these days. The acting was just OK, though. The script was decent and the action all right - not great, but all right. Mostly, I liked how the screenwriter fools the viewers with this mystery survivor. Yes, the movie did have some elements of Aliens (you could tell the actors were trying to recreate that kind of energy with the soldiers charging in) and Scanners (which I loved). So, this low-budget sci-fi was decent and watchable and overall entertaining. I wouldn't put it on any must-see sci-fi film lists, but it works for a rainy afternoon inside on the iPad.
gavin6942 A special forces unit, sent to infiltrate Pine Gap Australia's top secret underground military compound, comes under attack from unknown forces.Terrible effects, little use of science fiction in the plot, and just your average sort of experience makes this a typical lower budget action film. I am sorry, Australia, but you are going to have to try harder than this. We are already flooded with worthless films in America, and you cannot compete with the sheer number of throwaway pieces of trash we produce. (I am not proud of this.) Most unfortunate, someone named this film "Crawlspace". While that may be a valid name for what takes place in the majority of this film, it is already the name of a better than average 1980s slasher film. If you are going to reuse a name, pick one that you can actually improve upon.
mecheart I am huge fan of the Horror/Sci-Fi/Military genre that takes the viewer into the darker recesses of our imagination and pits science against the occult. Thus after coming across this film during a google search for the like, I wasted little time ordering a copy - it looked that good. The first turn off for me while viewing 'Crawlspace' was the commandos receiving the order to kill all prisoners of the facility on sight. What has Australia become? Some kind of neo down under police state with kangaroos and koalas? That sequence alone destroyed my suspension of disbelief and put me into a state of bad humor toward the picture.Moving on, the so called elite commandos seemed awkward moving with weapons in their hands ... almost as if the set had lacked a military adviser who had actually served in an armed force. None of the actors convinced me for even a moment that they were playing soldiers, rather than actors with prop guns. After the first monster appeared my spirits rose a bit, only to fall further again once the reveal was made as to what was really going on. On top of all that - and perhaps it is because I am not Australian - the acting just seemed flat and lifeless and lacking oomph or flow. Maybe that form of acting is popular 'down under' I cannot say.In short, I wanted to like the film. I am a huge fan of IFC. But the best part of the movie hands down was Peta Sergeant's screen time - but not her acting. She is quite easy on the eyes.I will rate the film a three for effort. So if you are a fan of the Mil/Sci-fi/horror genre who is dying for his next fix, you can do much better than 'Crawlspace' - much better.
