Dante Golio DADDY'S LITTLE GIRL is a bold and bonkers torture-fest, as advertised. It also happens to be a moving indie-drama at the same time. If you like Horror realism with A+ gore-effects, welcome to your new favorite guilty- pleasure. The filmmaker nicely takes his time setting up the story during the first hour and then, well, I pity the unsuspecting viewer who doesn't know what's coming. For a micro-budget project, the acting is decent, the cinematography is well-done and the hardcore horror fans get their huge dose of over-the- top sadistic gnarly- ness. Haven't we all seen so many ridiculously bad attempts at low-budget Horror? I sure have and DADDY'S LITTLE GIRL is quite the opposite. Brilliant work.
Andy_Sparnon Daddy's Little Girl is a film with a strong plot and progresses into something you can never anticipate. A shocking story based on real events that opens up our own realisations to our vulnerabilities and capability in a similar situation to what's portrayed in this film. When a normal father is driven to a state of anguish on the path to insanity after realising he had lost his little girl. The film drives you deeper into the mind of the father, as he maintains his normal persona, while committing atrocious acts. The SFX are a standout in the film with some of the most graphic acts and realism that I have seen in any Australian horror film. The director pushes the boundaries and fans of genuine gut churning horror will find Daddy's Little Girl a treat from the mostly predictable and unconvincing effects that we are desensitised to. Michael Thomson plays the role of the father with conviction and Chris Sun pulls no punches to create a must watch Aussie horror that will leave you asking "What's next"?
SpannersGerm669 I've heard a lot about Chris Sun, but have been disappointed that I haven't seen his work until now. Coming into Daddy's Little Girl, I wasn't expecting too much, considering it was very low budget and the fact that Australian Cinema has been very weak lately. While the storyline is very similar to that of "7 Days" (a superior father avenging his little girls death movie) it still had quality in it for me to recommend it. To start off with, yes it is low budget so there comes the usual problems. The acting is hit and miss and the sound can sometimes fade, but putting all that aside, the movie really stands up for Independent Filmmakers in my country. The effects are second to none. They really are! It was extremely brutal and some might dismiss it as "torture porn" but for me, i thought it played its part. Showing that violence is very destructive and serves no positive purpose. That it can transform the best of people to mere monsters. I wasn't expecting that from this film and it really got to me. With a lot of "made for television soap dramas" polluting Australian screens, people like Chris Sun need to be encouraged, because its this type of film maker that will get Australia back to the glory days of the Ozploitation 70's Golden years.
Wade Boyes (wadeboyes) Chris Sun is one of Australia's must follow directors. His passion for horror see's his films take you on a journey that will make you cringe! Daddy's little girl is a must see. Very thought provoking! What would you do if you found yourself in that situation! I don't want to ruin anything but although a slowish start the twist and subsequent torture scenes are crazy!I don't usually turn away from the screen these days no matter how gastly but Chris Sun managed to make me watching this lolI think that everyone whether they have children or not will find this awesome film a must see. I can't wait for more from this amazing director. Charlie's Farm is my next must watch!
