spector-rose Dark Honeymoon's cast, alone, is impressive. I was very impressed with Lindy Booth and Nick Cornish. I believe this was Roy Scheider's last film and he always delivers. The characters were believable and fascinating. The film itself invites the audience to take part in the confusion, to attempt to discern illusion from reality as if you are looking at a Rorschach test. The film is boldly manipulative, demanding the audience's complete involvement and undivided attention. This is definitely a movie where you have to pay attention the whole time and catch every scene. Believe me it's worth it. If you are a movie fan who likes surprises, I recommend Dark Honeymoon.
lavbach My friend had rented Dark Honeymoon & said I will love, he was right. Imagine 1 AM - can't sleep, total darkness outside and only the sound of police sirens in the distance. What joy to get lost in a film that delivers! The cast is top rate; Roy Schieder, Daryl Hannah, Eric Roberts, Lindy Booth - how can you go wrong with this cast, the story was great. Why isn't this in theaters? I would pay to see this and so would my friends. It felt like I was watching a modern version of film noir and Psycho! I was waiting for Norman Bates to appear! WOW! Love, Marriage, Murder! The bodies are piling up. Each death puts you more and more on the edge of your seat! What a ride!
vhsiv If you like intentionally bad movies, this might be your cup of tea.I have a bit of a weakness for inspired camp, especially movies that can walk that fine line between plausible and over the top -- It's a difficult tension to manage, but 'Dark Honeymoon' manages it.Lindy Booth is the real star of this one. Since her debut on the unfortunately short-lived sow,'Oyssey 5', she's made a specialty of playing crazy girlfriends -- sweet on the outside, but a bunch of broken marbles, once you get her home. 'O5','Wrong Turn', 'Cry_Wolf' and here, she plays the batsh#tinsane girlfriend and does a marvelous job with it.What is impressive here is the support that writer-director David O'Malley got here -- Eric Roberts, Darryl Hannah, Tia Carrere and Roy Scheider -- strong almost A-list players, all -- each playing supporting roles in what would otherwise be a cheesy teen-age slasher flick. But the demographic of this flick is just a bit twisted, as the protagonists here, Kathryn and Paul are int their mid- to late-20's, already just a bit out of scope for the usual mall crowd. The other oddity here is the emphasis, if not effort that was put into the music -- though the film has a cheap, raw look to it (think DePalma's 'Sisters') it has a world-class soundtrack that rivals anything executed by Bernard Hermann. The music definitely kicks this movie up 3 notches above whatever dreck it would have been without the efforts of Juan Colomer and his big string section. If you like Lindy and you're a fan of early, Hitchcock-inspired DePalma, this is one that you probably want to investigate, if only for a fun ride.
nirothegreat This "movie" is such a bad work! Nothing seems to even try and be realistic. Plot is weak, acting - miserable, actors wondering around like in a 1st year production, trying very hard to act with no chance at all from the beginning. What a flop! What a waste of time, money and effort to all concerned including the audience. Well, as in any thriller, here too are murders, corpses and blood. Just imagine someone who 5 minutes ago, committed a murder with a knife, and came out calm and smiling, not to mention clean as a whistle, as if slashing one's throat is done by a virtual agent. Also, this murder was supposed to be done by a tiny fragile woman on a high strong male, and she cut his throat!!! Did she ask him, politely, to bend down for her? Much more stupidity of that same kind is going on and on leaving the audience wondering if this meant to be a joke which just turned out to be a bad one. Continuity is another huge problem as for instance: The eager-hungry groom is lying in bed, waiting for his virgin-bride to get out of the bathroom and after a long while, falls asleep(!?!). Next scene opens with the young couple entering the reception-area, asking for guidance to scenery spots! NOT A WORD ABOUT LAST NIGHT??? Such a waste of time even to try and write about this low-low supposed-to-be "movie".
