amrshehata85 Okay, so we have a 70-80-minute movie. And the script and whole story would only do for a 15-minute one. What should we do? Let's see. Yes, let's have the characters drive, walk and canoe most of the time. And let us not forget to add some horror score even if what is on screen is only a tree or a flower - just so that our viewers would not forget this is a horror movie. Well, the only horrific element in this crapastrophic movie is the acting. And, yes, it was that horrific. I watched halfway through this movie with my nephew, and we couldn't get past the 40-minute mark - since, by then, there was nothing but characters walking, driving and talking. There was not a single interesting aspect of this snooze fest. There is no story, let alone a backstory, no scares and no chemistry between the two leads. To add insult to injury, whenever the female protagonist saw the 'ghost' - which was definitely nothing more than a 5-minute job done on Paintbrush - she acts like she hadn't seen a darn thing. Hogwash! We actually got to see that she saw the ghost in full view, once for more than a few seconds. Does the director really want to treat his viewers as if they were dumb? Does he think we are as shallow as the abomination that is the script - or lack thereof - he is working with? Does he not know what horror flicks are made of? There are no words in the English language and not enough space in the universe to state just how terrible a movie this is. I am sure watching a vegetable rotting or paint drying would be much more fun, and a far better investment of your time, than seeing this.
Claudio Carvalho Theo (David Wayman) and his pregnant girlfriend Rose (Carina Birrell) travel to an isolated camping area by van to spend the weekend. During the night, they are waken by Officer Thwaites (Cameron Jack) that warns the couple that they are in a dangerous area and suggests them to move to a nearby camping. Rose is disturbed with the baby and is haunted by visions and dreadful nightmares. She wants to get rid of the baby but Theo wants to have his son. Along the weekend, Rose has a breakdown with tragic consequences."Wandering Rose" is a tedious B-movie with three characters only where nothing happens. The task of writing a summary is very difficult to be accomplished since there is nothing to tell about. Maybe the most frightening moment is when Officer Thwaites knocks on the van's door. My vote is one (awful). Title (Brazil: "O Bebê do Mal" (The Baby from Evil")
Gena Self It's a good thing that the movie was so dull or I would not have had the chance to fully grow to hate Rose's character. Annoying, whiny, dismissive and selfish. I suppose that indicates good acting, that I had such a strong reaction to her?The soundtrack was interesting and had some odd choices, but it fit with the moments. The acting was fair, but very poor on the part of Officer Thwaites. His odd behavior and strange, creepy way of speaking and looking at them had me thinking he would be a "bad guy". Nope - just weird, apparently. The plot was weak and never reached an adequate conclusion in my view. The action scenes were completely random, without enough back story as to why she would act that way. Just crazy? Lame.It passed a (very brief) amount of time while I was working, but not at all worth seeking out or re-watching.
quincytheodore There's no way of putting it mildly. Demon Baby is barely passable as a family vacation video. Take a few actors in camping site, make them act with inconsistent script and call it a movie. The entire short length of the movie is Rose having pregnancy scare, she's moody and grumpy while Theo plays the compassionate lover role. For those hoping for good psychological twist or any coherency at all, the movie will disappoint. It delivers little to no depth, not to mention the narrative stumbles around like Rose actually does on-screen. With barely over an hour runtime, much of it is spent in slow pace bantering and resulting in timid scare at best. It can't decide if it opts for possession, usual haunting or psychological breakdown, so it mashes all tidbits and creates a shoddy excuse for thriller. If there's anything, at least the view is kind of nice and the actors do try. Soundtracks remind me of Silent Hill, not bad considering the limited production value. Honestly, this looks like a tryout in local cinema or the director's personal tape. Highly not recommended.
