Michael Ledo This is a romance I accidentally watched thinking it was a crime drama. Alan (Joseph Fiennes) works at a high class Miami resort where he fetches stuff for the high paying clients. He stalks and beds Ella (Gretchen Mol) the wife of a councilman (Ray Liotta). Alan comes with all the bells and whistles of undying love, love letters, etc. the things women expect and too seldom get. Needless to say Ray Liotta for some reason doesn't like a guy who is pinning his wife.I barley made it through the film.Guide: F-bomb, sex, nudity (Gretchen Mol).
Wizard-8 In a number of aspects, "Forever Mine" is a really strange movie. On one hand it seems to be a modern update of the noir genre, dealing with forbidden romance and other related topics. But a great deal of the movie also seems to be inspired by the Alexander Dumas novel "The Count of Monte Cristo"! As you can probably imagine, the two parts don't really fit well together. Yet at the same time, the mix makes the movie so strange that more likely than not you'll keep watching to see how it gets wrapped up. I certainly was curious enough. That is not to say that the movie is missing genuine merit. It's well photographed, has some good performances, and it has a lush musical score. However, the movie doesn't work in the end. The limited budget hurts the movie at times, and the so-called "hero" isn't very sympathetic. But what really dooms the movie is that the story is too long, too slow, and lacking in explanation on a few key details. Yet while the movie doesn't work in the end, the movie remains weirdly watchable - that is, if you share this user commenter's taste for strange cinema.
astacvi-1 I won't attempt to summarize the plot, such as it is. Suffice it to say that every single character in this film manages to behave in the least straightforward and believable manner in every situation. The heavy hand of a poor screenwriter is evident throughout, as all the characters seem more manipulated than motivated. The writer/director, Paul Schrader, was an unfamiliar directorial name to me until I watched this mess, and his resume makes it clear why. He's had a few successes as a writer, but pretty much all of them were directed by Martin Scorsese, who is very definitely not on hand to salvage this disaster.Fiennes and Mol are game for the most part, and do what they can with the laughable dialogue. Ray Liotta, however, is at his over-the-top worst. He can be effective with the right part and some directorial restraint (see *Blow*, for instance) but neither is present here.Avoid this and find something better to do.
cafe_jazz_1999 Even not being a great movie, Forever mine is a average romantic movie based on The Count of Montecristo plot. The boy than come from the past to recover the woman she owned and to revenge from the man who separated him from her.As i said, is not a very good movie, cause it's a bit discontinuous, i mean, there aren't almost none between the beginning and the end of the story, and in the story passed more than ten years.Anyways, if you like real romantic movies, not romantic comedies like is usual in Hollywood now, then you probably will like this.It worth the view.
