First few episodes of the first season was kinda dull, but picks up as this unfolds.

Looking over the reviews I noticed there are a number of negatives which I think are unfair. There are some questionable threads in the series such as the obsessive FBI agent which is drawn out far too long over all three series, and times when Jennifer Lopez gets her kit off for the strangest reasons which seems a bit gratuitous. However, overall this is a pretty good show and keeps you gripped throughout. Jennifer Lopez is convincing and plays her part well, I think she is a good actress who is unjustly criticised, just try to forget it is JLo and put aside any prejudices. Unlike other reviewers I found Ray Liotta to be wooden and he seemed to struggle to get his words out sometimes, his dramatics were unconvincing. The supporting cast were all excellent. I agreed some of the plotlines were derivative but they were delivered in a convincing way - I suppose most stories are derivative these days. It is worth watching and good to see JLo in a more downbeat role, but as a previous reviewer has commented, it would have been nice to see her more 'dressed down' and less glamorous.

This has been one of the best TV series I have seen in a long time. It brings an A list cast that keeps me tuning in. This show has been filled with excitement, and many twists and turns to keep the viewer on the edge of their seat. It is so realistic especially for large cities where corruption in police departments often occur. Sad to see this show ending after only season 3. Please tell me the producers can keep this show on NBC or maybe they can pitch to other network? Iove this show!!

As an obsessive watcher of the crime/police TV show genre, I love Shades of Blue because it's edgy, unpredictable, and the acting is excellent. Lopez and Liotta bring depth to their characters, which helps strengthen plot and suspense. It doesn't seem like the writers are only one step ahead of each show, like so many other shows. Consistently engaging and exciting.
